At eighteen, Corinne Bishop was a beautiful, spirited young woman living a life of privilege as the adopted daughter of a wealthy family. Her world changed in an instant when she was stolen away and held prisoner by the malevolent vampire Dragos. After many years of captivity and torment, Corinne is rescued by the Order, a cadre of vampire warriors embroiled in a war against Dragos and his followers. Her innocence taken, Corinne has lost a piece of her heart as well—the one thing that gave her hope during her imprisonment, and the only thing that matters to her now that she is free.

Assigned to safeguard Corinne on her trip home is a formidable golden-eyed Breed male called Hunter. Once Dragos’s most deadly assassin, Hunter now works for the Order, and he’s hell-bent on making Dragos pay for his manifold sins. Bonded to Corinne by their mutual desire, Hunter will have to decide how far he’ll go to end Dragos’s reign of evil—even if carrying out his mission means shattering Corinne’s tender heart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deeper Than Midnight I am so happy Hunter found a mate too. Super pairing with him and Corrine and the storyline kept me interested right to the end. Great job Lara Adrian!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A story in transition As other reviewers have remarked, this book is more a story in transition than it is a stand alone read - which is fine because I'm invested in reading this series beginning to end. That said, this story left much to be desired. It wasn't until the last 1/3 of the book that we got any of the romance we've come to expect, and even then it was a bit tough to believe given Corrine's circumstances, and Hunter's upbringing/training. The book definitely leaves alot of unanswered questions at the end compelling you on to the next installment, which I didn't mind because I'm behind in the series and the next book is already published. I think I would have been annoyed if I had to wait 6-12 months to see what happened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great!!! This was truly a great read! Hunter and Corinne are too cute. Their story is amazing and I was really happy that they found each other and started a family. The book on the whole was great..... I'm so in love with Sterling (have been in love with Sterling since he joined the Order) and I was happy to read about him and get to know how he thinks. I'm really looking forward to his book. I wish Jan 24th was like tomorrow. I feel that getting an insight into what Lucan was thinking was also important because of the way things were going. You want to know what the leader is thinking of and feeling when everything seems to be going south. I don't know whats going to happen after Chase's story but there are characters that I would like to see grow up like Nathan, Kellan and Mira and how does Lazaro move on after losing his whole family? I know that there is a good possibility that Dragos will be defeated in the next book but there is always room for a new evil doer and if not, I dont care, I'll read it--just back to fighting rogues is cool.( JR Ward has gotten away with some of her warrior books containing little to no interaction with the omega). Again, I loved this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hunter can feel love! I was worried about Hunter from the first time I read about him. It is wonderful that he can actually have feelings. I am glad he was written this just shows that no matter what has happened in your past love can heal all wounds. Love these books, can't wait for the next one!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally Hunter Got A Book Okay so I was really excited for this book because I'm a huge fan of this series and I couldn't wait until we got a book on Hunter's character. I found the book to be really good but I have some complaints, first of all I didn't really like the fact that even though this is Hunter's book it seemed like we didn't get a whole lot of him and Corinne ( love interest ) I mean they had there moments but I thought there would be more relationship development between them and we would just have more moments between them. I also found that the story jumed in to many directions again this was Hunter's book but it seemed like we got alot of Lucan,Dragos and Chase, that brings me to my next pont I really think there was to much Chase in this book because I mean his book is next and don't get me wrong it sets it up nicely for his book but I found we had a little to much of his story. Now for my last complaint the next book is coming out in HARDCOVER UGH, I'm sorry but thats dumb the first nine books are in paperback and book ten is going to come out in hardcover I'll probably wait till the paperback is released. Overall this was still a really good book even with it's flaws and I think the storyline is going to go in an interesting direction and I still found Hunter to be a great character and there was tons of fighting and action to keep the book flowing. If your a fan of the series check it out. :0)
