Juliette and Warner’s story continues in the thrilling fifth installment of Tahereh Mafi’s New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series.

Juliette Ferrars isn’t who she thinks she is.

Nothing in her world is what it seemed. She thought she’d finally defeated the Reestablishment. She thought she’d finally taken control of her life, her power, and her pain. But Juliette has only just begun to unravel a lifetime of lies, and she finds herself faced with a familiar choice:

Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

This time, she’s not alone. Stronger, braver, and more resilient than ever, Juliette will fight for life and love with her friends by her side—but first, she has to survive the war being waged against her mind:

She has to remember who she was.

Narrated by Juliette, Warner, and Kenji Kishimoto, this gripping novel perfectly sets the stage for the highly anticipated forthcoming conclusion to the Shatter Me series.

Tahereh Mafi was born in Connecticut and graduated from a liberal arts college in California. She is the author of the Shatter Me series.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Underwhelming 3.5 stars After the shock, pleasure, and thrill of reading “Restore Me”, I have to admit that this latest installment was….underwhelming. Also, shorter. How did we get an additional perspective yet a decreased page length? I protest. First off, even though the story in general was underwhelming, the additional perspective of Kenji was needed. I continue to love his character and find that his humour is much needed in a novel that has quite a lot of drama and emotion. Yes, he can exhibit those elements as well but his humour really stands out and has me laughing in the midst of the darkness of the story. In contrast to loving Kenji’s character, Warner seemed much different to me in this novel (especially nearing the end). His personality just seemed so changed from the previous novel(s). I understand a character changes and evolves but man, he seemed different to me (and not in a good way). Hopefully, some of the personality that he has had in the previous books will return in the concluding novel of the series. Although there were some notable quotations and passages that truly showed the talent of Tahereh Mafi, the overall story was slow. There wasn’t as many fast-paced or thrilling scenes as the previous novels. It read almost as if it was a novella, where it felt like it was meant to be read in-between the main novels of importance. I’m hoping that the final novel in this series gives the series an ending that it deserves and that this novel was the outlier with it being lacklustre compared to the rest. It was still a good read but it has a dullness where the rest of the series truly shines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED IT! I absolutely devoured this novel. For a 5th book in a series, it did not disappoint at all. Tahereh Mafi continues to take this series in places I never could've imagined and I love to be surprised! This novel had the steamy, swoony romance, the action, the jaw-dropping plot twists and the humour. What else could you possibly ask for? Warner and Juliette are some of my all times favorite characters and their relationship is one of the most swoon-worthy out there! The addition of Kenji's POVs in this one were perfect. It was great to learn more about my favorite sidekick! If you have yet to pick up the first Shatter Me novel and enjoy all the things I just listed, do yourself a favor and pick it up!

Editorial Reviews

“Fast-paced action scenes convey imminent danger vividly. Part cautionary tale, part juicy love story, this will appeal to action and adventure fans.”
