Her deadly dreams leave her in grave danger

Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they've fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it's time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about.

Gregor believes Cat is his and he won't stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat has to be the ultimate heroine. Overall this series has a lot of action, intrigue and interesting characters. Even the supporting characters deserve their own story. I found this series captivating from start to finish and I have reread some of the books a second time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An interesting read This is the game changer book. It’s also my least favorite of the series because Cat and Bones have so many problems and they fight A LOT. Many disturbing things are revealed and a vampire ally has been keeping a HUGE secret from Cat and Bones. You won't freakin' believe it! We also lose a beloved secondary character in the book. Yes, I was totally balling. Cat and Bones's relationship is put to the test in these pages. It's heart-wrenching and there are a few WTF moments that totally threw me. So many milestones happen in this book as well; some good, some bad, but necessary all the same. This is not a sunshine and rainbows kind of book. Jeaniene really keeps us holding our breath in this one. I am reminded by the saying, "It's always darkest before the dawn." This is one of those dark times. I hope I haven't deterred you from picking up the book. The story is vital to the series. Things do get better though, I promise!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frost just keeps delivering the goods... I loved this book. After finally getting a little time alone Cat starts having horrible nightmares and spitting out comments such as, “You’re not my husband” in regards to Bones. They then find out there’s a vampire trying to steal Cat through her dreams claiming to be her rightful husband. Bones actually loses his temper, more than once. The gang then comes together again to fight yet another vampire war in order to prove who Cat’s real husband is and find out who her heart truly desires. We get to see more of Vlad in this instalment which is a definitely plus! I hope Frost writes a spin off for him soon. The heart ache between Cat and Bones in this book was stressful and powerful. There was lots of action and emotion. You had to remember to take a minute to breath. Very fast paced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Series Book 4 in the series and it has yet to peak for me. Frost just keeps delivering the goods to her fans! The only negative thing I will say, is that waiting for the new book is going to be torturous! Can't wait to check out the spin off series as well! Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Cat and Bones! I didn't think this series could keep going and still be sooo good, but I think this one could be my favourite. It starts fast and keeps moving through the entire book. Cat and Bones are so electric together and their characters keep you wanting more. I love how all the friends - Tate, Juan, Vlad, Annette, etc. - continue through the books. Cat learns she has been vampire married to another vampire and she and Bones have to deal with it and solve the issues that arise from it. Although this may be the main story line, so many things happen in the book. I loved this story and couldn't put it down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will Love Hold Them Together? I love this series but this book did not please me like the other ones. Cat keeps having dreams and a man shows up trying to claim her as his wife. Trouble brews with Cats and Bones relationship and this time it looks like it is ending for good. For me the novel was very good but the heart ache went on too long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget "Team Edward", I'm "Team Bones" All The Way! In the 4th book in the Night Huntress series, we find Kat and Bones on a well deserved vacation. All is going great...well except for the pesky nightmares Kat keeps having where a vampire who isn’t Bones claims to be her husband. It turns out that Kat has a dark past that even she doesn’t know about. Now it’s up to Kat, Bones and the rest of the gang to figure out just who Kat’s supposed husband is and what he wants. With this new husband on the scene, what does it mean for the hottest vamp couple since Edward and Bella from Twilight? Will their relationship survive? Better yet will they survive? This book was an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed, I cried and I got super mad at the characters. I love this series and hope that it isn’t the last instalment in the Kat and Bones storyline, with the way things ended in this I doubt it’s anywhere near the end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Despite Plot Ploy My favorite from the whole series, even with that little tiny ridiculous plot ploy. I don't like when authors try to 'pull one' on us lovely readers. I need a reason for everything and generally I don't go with plot ploys when there is nothing to back it up; especially when it reeks of 'just decided'. You can't change history just because you've found this amazing idea. In none of the previous books was this whole missing time hinted at. I wish we would've gotten a bit more reaction from Cat in regards to this time lapse that she experienced. I would've believed it a bit more because good authors don't need to do these sorts of things. Despite that large pot hole I loved this book. I loved how broken Cat and Bones were through out this book. I loved getting to see Bones just shatter. This makes me perhaps a dark and twisty person but who doesn't love character growth and emotion and reading a journey when it feels tangible and raw. When an author can have a couple become a couple in this first book but still keep turmoil and a vulnerability between the two without it seeming silly I'm applauding. Frost continues to let these two grow (both together and separately) but at the same time destroys them a bit as well. That's finesse! Along with broken characters you get so much time with other secondary characters. In fact, some of my favorite scenes were with Vlad. I would love to read a book on his story. I love how protective he is of Cat but at the same time it's not a romantic emotion. More like a best friend or family member and he doesn't cling to her or any of those annoying traits he's just there. I'm fairly certain that if you're a fan of this series you won't be disappointed with this book other than the obvious plot ploy, but Frost managed to work it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When dreams turn into nightmares. This is the 4th book in jeaniene frosts night huntress series and again she doesn't disappoint! I really hope there is much more to come. *********SPOILER ALERT*************** Cat and bones are finally getting their much deserved alone time. They are sailing on a boat, on their way to paris, the city of lovers, sounds like paradise right? what could possiably happen? Well how about a master vampire dubbed "the dreamsnatcher" who claims that he is cats real husband, there goes the honeymoon! Cat is starting to have dreams about Gregor her "husband" but she doesn't remember anything about him or the time in life he claims they were together and no one seems to be handing out answers. Once in paris bones and cat meet mencheres bones's grandsire and find out that along time ago, he had a vision that cat would be with bones and so he erased cat's mind from that period of time and took gregor hostage so he wouldn't interfear with the future. For many reasons cat is steaming mad over this news and wants to find out everything about her past so she can save her future. Bones is outraged and has publicly announced that he will fight gregor anytime anywhere because no one wil ever take what is his! Gregor starts to appear everywhere cat is so they think there is a rat in the group, but after all the facts are out it seems cat is the rat, only she doesn't realize it. So now she must be blindfolded where ever they go so gregor can't find them, but somehow he still does and sends an army of ghouls to destroy them. Before the battle begins bones brings cat to a secret room and tells her to stay put, that doesn't go over well with cat and makes even more tension between them but she stays and can see the fight from the camera in the room. Cat is going crazy, she should be there to help the ghouls are comming by the hundreds and she is just sitting around. Then an idea comes to her, she writes bones a note saying she'll be back and falls asleep so she can confront gregor and stop all of this once and for all. Upon seeing gregor she is a little taken aback by him and by bitting him she sees the past that she had with him, the good the bad and the down right ugly!! She spends some time with him because he called off the ghouls and promised she could leave when she wanted to. When she does finally leave he vows to her that he will get her back, but she just says bones is her life now and forever or so she thinks! When cat gets back, bones can't ever stand the sight of her and tells her its over between them that she never trusts him and went running to her"real husband" then leaves with a big slam of the door. Days go by and still no word of bones, and cat is broken, almost unfixable until she gets word that bones has been spoted with a woman and is being a very naughty boy! That brokenness turns to furry and decides to call an old friend. Vlad is happy to come and get cat and bring her to his home so she can think things through, but on one condition of course, vampires always have conditions, she must let vlad feed from her,not to bad so done deal. After a few days with old vlad the phone rings and they are told that bones is back and wants cat, does he still love her, can she still love him after she cheating ways? Well you'll have to find out that one for yourself! All I will say is that something life changing happens to cat and new powers form, and then the battle for her life and the one she truely loves bones or gregor??? I was a little sad when I finished the book, because i'm not sure if there is going to be more, and bones has been like an addiction to me(the series is that good) However there is going to be a spinoff called first drop of crimson, which will be about bones's best friend charles"spade" and denise(cat's bff). I'm sure it will be a great series because jeaniene frost is a great storyteller, I just hope bones will be in the sereis too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good thing they met that ghost, huh? I love this series and I really enjoyed this book (more so on the second reading), but I think it's the weakest of the series. I have no qualms about what happens between Bones, Cat and whats-his-face, (and Vlad... yay! More Vlad!) but I felt the story wasn't as tightly written as the first three. As always the characters, new and old, are very compelling, but as a whole, there are a few ragged seams. Anyhoodle, it's still far and away better than most of the dreck out there in this genre. I love J Frost's work and can't wait for Spade and Denise's story. I hope my boyfriend Vlad gets one too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Exciting Change This is the fourth book in the Night Huntress series and it is quite possibly the last in the series. I can’t confirm that at the moment but regardless of it’s truth, there will be spin off stories of the side characters, so that’s a piece of good news. Cat begins having dreams about a man from her past. The man is a master vampire and claims to be her husband. She has no recollection of the past but Gregor is persistent in getting back his wife. This could ultimately destroy everything she has with Bones. Meanwhile, Bones becomes a stubborn jerk and leaves Cat in a pile of garbage. Literally. Read more at:

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cat & Bones...The Saga Continues And so the story continues....While on vacation in Paris Cat wakes up in terror. She dreams of a vampire named Gregor who is more powerful than Bones. Gregor has ties to Cat's past that she doesn't even know about. I found the character of Gregor to be too whinny. Also, I found it very difficult to understand why at the age of 16 Cat would even want to be with Gregor. Gregor's mood swings along with a long story line of "She's mine" no "She's mine" can got very tiring. It had it's funny moments and a great battle scene. Hopefully this is the only "drab" installment in the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh my God! An absolutely great addition to her series. It's everything you'd expect from Jeaniene Frost. The novel actually begins with a huge jaw dropper and from there everything goes downhill for Cat and Bones. The new threat and new "information" Cat is given, she has to do all she possibly can to ensure her relationship with Bones can last. They are put to the test on countless occasions throught out the novel. Not gonna lie, the book was great storyline and all but i did not enjoy what was happening and what it was leading to. It was a great twist but it left me VERY nervous and just wanting to read the end for some assurance( but i assure you I didn't). If you liked her other novels then you'll have no problem loving this one also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best One Yet! I think this one is my favourite so far in the whole series. So many things happen in this book, and it just holds your attention until the very end. Can't wait for the fifth book to come out!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great book If you loved the other books in this series, you'll love this one too! It's actioned packed, and keeps you wanting more. What does Gregor want with Cat? Are Gregor and Cat really married? Are Bones and Cat's marriage going to last? You'll have to read to find out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful series 4 books, 4 days. This series is such a page turner i did nothing but eat sleep and read these books until they were done. Can't wait for the next one, and the spin off book starring Denise, First Drop of Crimson.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The TRUE test of Bones' and Cat's relationship - and I LOVED IT ALL I can't divulge much as this is the fourth book in the Night Huntress Series and i don't want to ruin it for any fan of the series, so i will stay mumm on some details. So, beyond all the action, the awesome banter we always get from Cat and Bones, the sexy time, and everything else we consistently get from these books, i think this time there was a lot more darkness in the story, a lot of in the form of a vamp named Gregor who is wreaking havoc and trying to claim Cat as his own. I hated Gregor, and not just for what he was trying to do, but because he was simply said: a perverted pig who is power hungry. And with Cat and Bones each already sporting that stubborn and sometimes irrational thought process because they try so hard to protect each other without letting the other person in, boy does Gregor really throw a wrench into their relationship bliss and cause Bones to have a huge fit of jealousy at some points! MEN!!!! This book tested this couple's relationship staying power like no other, and although most readers will be happy with the outcome at the end of the novel, getting there was not easy for one of my personal fav fictitious couples. Because of Gregor too, this installement has some crazy twists and turns for some of the characters, some i'm happy happened, others i'm skeptical about, but only time will tell!!! Speaking of characters, the supporting roles were once again fantastic. I was so happy to see Vlad have an increased role in the book (I LOVED HIS ROLE IN THE BOOK), as well as see the mother have a smaller role. We were introduced to the very loyal ghost Fabian who really helped Cat and Bones out throughout, and regular appearances by Spade and Mencheres were great as well. Overall, i still ended the book saying 'THAT'S IT...BUT I WANT MORE'!!!!! I felt the ending was a little abrupt, and because the story is so fun, to read 350+ pages and then have it end like that, is so not enough for me, I NEED MORE, this was almost like a tease!!! I'll still take what i can get, haha!!!! Anyways, if you are a fan of the series, or are looking for a great series to sink you teeth into (hehe), this is a GREAT one to read!!! Enjoy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Her Best SO FAR. I really enjoyed Jeaniene Frost's latest book, "Destined for Early Grave." She had me angry, crying, and happy all at once all through the book. This latest story is definitely charged with emotions and brings to life all of the characters you've been hearing about from the start. Great JOB! Can't wait for the next.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rollercoaster is right The emotional ups and downs in this book made it a wonderful ride. I couldn't put it down and read it in 2 nights. It was nice to see that even with a passionatly charged relationship like Bones' and Cat there are always vulnerabilities. I am not sure if this is the last of her books about these two, as I know she has a spin off coming. I was more than satisfied if it is :) But it would be interesting to find out more about Cat ahd her powers

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Great Book in a Great Series Destined For An Early Grave is the fourth novel the Night Huntress series. Once again we find Cat, a feisty vampire slayer who is half vampire herself, and Bones, her vampire lover, battling the bad guys. The story gets off to a quick start dropping us straight into the action on the opening pages, as Cat is chased through her dreams by an unknown vampire. The unknown vampire turns out to be Gregor, an ancient vampire who has the ability to invade people's dreams and physically snatch them in their sleep. As the story develops it turns out that Cat does know Gregor, but she doesn't remember because the memory has been wiped from her mind by Mencheres, Bone’s grandsire. To make matters worse, Gregor insists that Cat is his wife since they blood-bonded when she was sixteen, but she can’t remember if this is true and even if it is she’s not about to give up Bones. Unable to resist running headlong into danger, Cat pulls the readers along for a thrilling ride as she fights against Gregor’s claim upon her. Bones, being his over protective self, continually keeps Cat in the dark about his plans only to have them ruined by Cat's premature interference. As tempers fray, Bones and Cat, who have a volatile relationship to begin with, argue back and forth across Europe while trying to keep Gregor at bay and stem off a Ghoul war. Could this be the end of the road for Cat and Bones…? Destined For An Early Grave is a great addition to the Night Huntress series. Mixing hot, hot romance with vampires and fast-paced fantasy thrills it makes a hugely readable novel that shouldn’t fail to delight urban fantasy and paranormal romance fans alike. In this series, each book develops the romantic relationship between Bones and Cat further. For this reason of you are unfamiliar with this series I would recommend starting with Halfway To The Grave and reading these books in order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I still want more Cat is a half human/half vampire with a mouth that gets her into trouble. Not to mention the fact that she usually reacts before she thinks. This is a great fourth book to the series. We find out more about Cat's past, and a glimpse at a future without Bones?? Cat and Bones don't have the perfect relationship, but not being together at all?? I was hooked by page 8. I when it ended, I wanted more. There are so many highs and lows in this book and a rollarcoaster ride seems the perfect way to describe the book. Read the first three first. This is a great series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Emotional Roller Coaster Destined for an Early Grave is the 4th book in the Night Huntress series by Jeanine Frost. The book starts off with Cat and Bones sailing of to Paris. Their plans for a romantic vacation are cut short when Cat starts dreaming of a vampire who tells her that she is not married to Bones. She soon learns that this vampire is a Mater Vampire named Gregor who is known as the Dreamsnatcher. They find out that Cat was with Gregor for a time but she doesn’t remember. Gregor wants Cat back and will stop at nothing to get “his wife” back. Cat and Bones must find a way to stop him before he snatches her in her dreams. The news that Cat his wife doesn’t sit well with the undead community and they believe that Bones is breaking the law by keeping Cat from him. Besides trying to keep Cat from Gregor they also have to try to keep the undead community from intervening. Cat and Bone’s relationship is very much tested in the book. They come to blows over their disagreements. Cat acts reckless and impulsive while Bones acts controlling and overprotective. There was so much tension in some parts of the book that I was gripping the pages. I wanted to scream out loud at them. Their toughest enemy was themselves, over their pride, jealousy and fears while trying to deal with Gregor’s claims of being Cat’s husband. The secondary characters play more major roles in this book including Spade, Mencheres, Vlad, Justina and Rodney. I also love the new addition to this group, a ghost named Fabian. One part of the book that I found so moving is when Cat stayed in Vlad’s home. They lay in bed together holding each other because of their loneliness. It was so moving and I find his character is growing on me. Towards the end of the book there are some major twists. It was so completely unexpected and took me by completely by surprise. The story line twists will forever change the course of the series. I absolutely love this book. It was an emotional roller coaster that had me biting my nails. Can’t wait for next year’s follow up. We get a look at the “spin off’ First Drop of Crimson. It’s from Denise (Cat’s best friend who’s husband died in book 3) and Spade’s point of view. I cannot wait until that book comes out. There was much more of Spade in this book, I guess to have us wanting more so we would all go off and buy the book. Well, I’m sold. Here is my favourite line in the book. Cat’s waiting in line to use the restroom when a woman keeps eying Bones. Cat tells her that it’s her husband but the girl basically says “nothing lasts forever”. This is Cat’s reply having me laugh out loud. “He f**ks even better than he looks”, I settled on saying. Several heads turned. I didn’t care; I was pissed. “And that beautiful face is going to be clamped between my legs as soon as we get hooome, don’t you worry.”

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad. Not bad at all. Destined for an Early grave. The latest in the night huntress novel. A novel about Kat the dhamphyr. Also known as the red reaper. She started out hating the vampire(daddy issues) and then fell in love with one. Bones. In the last book she married Bones in the vampire fashion(blood bond of course). Now she's ready for some R&R. She's quit her job with the government as a vampire assasin. She got on a slow boat to Paris with bones. Unfortunately she's been having nightmares. Turns out there is a vampire out there with the ability to snatch people out of their dreams. You dream, he reaches into your dream, catches you, your body teleports to his location. It's earned him the name dreamcatcher(not very original I know). This vampire, Gregor, claims that Kat is his wife and that Bone's claim on her is invalidated by her previous marriage. (no divorce in the vampy realm) All in all not a bad book. The introduction of Gregor seems a bit sudden though. I'd would have liked some foreshadowing of him in previous books. As is, it makes the book look unplanned for. Still, it's a nice addition to the series and the bookshelf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Read for Cat Fans If you like the Night Huntress series this one does not disappoint. Destined for an Early Grave gives a great look in Cat's past, and it isn't what you'd have expected. More characters are introduced and old ones make their appearance to give a great cast and relationships. With enough twists to keep you reading this is a great addition to the series. Bones and Cat are a great couple and they have what looks like a promising future. A must read!
