New York Times bestselling author LISA KLEYPAS delivers the unforgettable tale of a strong-willed beauty who encounters her match in one of London’s most notorious—yet irresistible—rakes . . .

An eccentric wallflower  . . .

Most debutantes dream of finding a husband. Lady Pandora Ravenel has different plans. The ambitious young beauty would much rather stay at home and plot out her new board game business than take part in the London Season. But one night at a glittering society ball, she’s ensnared in a scandal with a wickedly handsome stranger.

A cynical rake  . . .

After years of evading marital traps with ease, Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent, has finally been caught by a rebellious girl who couldn’t be less suitable. In fact, she wants nothing to do with him. But Gabriel finds the high-spirited Pandora irresistible. He’ll do whatever it takes to possess her, even if their marriage of convenience turns out to be the devil’s own bargain.

A perilous plot  . . .

After succumbing to Gabriel’s skilled and sensuous persuasion, Pandora agrees to become his bride. But soon she discovers that her entrepreneurial endeavors have accidentally involved her in a dangerous conspiracy—and only her husband can keep her safe. As Gabriel protects her from their unknown adversaries, they realize their devil’s bargain may just turn out to be a match made in heaven . . .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A different "feel" for regency romance I loved this! As a light, fluffy, easy-reading bon-bon this is just the perfect thing. I loved Pandora. She is what is colloquially referred to as "a hoyden", and she is hilarious in her refusal to behave the way ladies of her time are supposed to do. The meeting between her and Gabriel is one of the most amusing scenes ever, and had me laughing out loud uncontrollably, which was bad, because I was on the subway at the time, and I fear I alarmed my fellow riders. Oh well! This was delightful fun as a story of an unorthodox woman finding the right man who can appreciate and love her the way she deserves. There is nothing heavy or important about this book, other than a romantic story of misfits finding one another and having a wonderful entertaining trip to happiness. There are explicit love scenes, multiple ones, in this book, so if that's not your thing, or if you are offended by lengthy scenes of couples discovering their physical attraction, and acting on it repeatedly and in detail, then this probably isn't for you. But if you don't mind two people in love having consensual, enjoyable sex, then you should be fine here. I really enjoyed this, mainly because of the hilariously snappy repartee between Gabriel and Pandora.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kleypas is BACK!! I had read her last few romances and hadn't been impressed, but Devil in Spring really delivered. A perfect sequel not only for the series but for Devil in Winter as well. As much as I love Evie and Sebastian (the protagonists of Devil in Winter), I loved how Kleypas didn't make them the focus of the story, and really gave Pandora and Gabriel their own story. Unique and compelling, Kleypas has taken historical romance to the next level - best historical romance of the year by far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sooooo Good This is the story of Pandora and Sebastian and Evie's son Gabriel. It was very fresh and different because Pandora herself is not the typical London aristocrat and it was wonderful to see old characters again and to learn more about the family that they created. It was very well written as all Kleypas books are and a very romantic and sweet read. It was thoroughly enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had me laughing out loud This book was great. Didn't know what to expect after reading about the heroine in the previous books but I fell in love with her. I loved the witty banter so much. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Absolute Joy to Read This series keeps getting better and better! When I first found out that the hero of this book was going to be the son of Sebastian and Evie, I was so excited and overjoyed. This certainly started out as a marriage of convenience (much like his parents), but soon the relationship between him and Pandora developed into a warm and beautiful romance. It was such an enjoyable read. I am anxiously waiting for the next one! I have very high expectations. I think Detective Ransom and Dr. Gibson will make a very, very intriguing pair. I cannot wait to see more of them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it!! It was so great revisiting Evie and Sebastian. I loved Gabriel and Pandora so much. Gabriel was not overshadowed by his father as he was his own man. Pandora was always such a fun and unique character. I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still mulling this one over I loved Devil in Winter, Evie and Sebastian's story, and this book looks at what happens with their oldest son Gabriel. I'd read about Pandora in the 2 previous Ravenel series, and I only pictured her as the TSTL heroine who had one brilliant board game idea and wanted "freedom" -- so I hoped and prayed that even if Gabriel and Pandora weren't the best of couples, at least I could read more about Evie and Sebastian and their HEA. In the first chapters of the book, the trope of innocent heroine wanting her freedom but really with no brains on her shoulder stood out to me. I huffed and puffed through the first chapters thinking: Why Gabriel -- why do you even jump into this relationship with her other than that she's ravishing? But I underestimated Kleypas. When I'm about to give up hope on our brainless heroine, Pandora changes right before my eyes. She's different, innocent, struggling with her own perceptions of herself and insightful. Initially it jarred with how I imagined Pandora, but as I read on I started liking her a lot, and thought -- no wonder Gabriel likes her so much. Now on to the hero: Gabriel. What's not to love -- he's such a blend of Evie and Sebastian, sensitivity and aloofness. The only sticking point I had was that when Gabriel is "caught" by Pandora in the beginning chapters, I didn't really understand why he would want to sacrifice his bachelorhood not knowing Pandora. He seems to be taken with her, and I couldn't understand why especially with one meeting. As with all Kleypas historicals, there's always a threat to the lovers happiness -- such as a villain, a bad situation etc. When this threatening element was introduced it was believable and I can see this being continued in future novels. However, I did feel like it was introduced a little late in the book and felt rushed. Otherwise a very solid addition to the Ravenal series -- my favourite so far. I am planning to re-read it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this! Loved revisiting Evie and Sebastian! Even though its about 30 years since their book, I loved reading about where they are and their family. Gabriel and Pandora were wonderful as well. Their story served to mirror Devil in Winter and I loved it. It still had it's unique aspects, such a good book!
