It all started when Natasha Parsons hit her head - in a very undignified manner- at her uncles political fundraiser. Suddenly, she finds herself exiled to the country and discovers some surprising truths about both her family and her own life. In a world of prejudice and judgment, Natasha quickly learns that we are all different shades of the same color, but is she ready to accept the darkness that lurks around the corner?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow !!! Fantastic read Once I finally received the book 3 weeks later (seems they ran short) I just couldn't put the book down . I don't normally read a book in 2.5 days but I did with this one . Woke up in the morning and was reading before work and the ending had me guessing until the last few pages . So glad I got this book and you will be too .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A full-throated, sexy depiction Canadian author MIMA showcases her considerable talents in Different Shades of the Same Color, a full-throated, sexy, at times shocking, depiction of small town culture and manners - filled with richly drawn characters and laugh-out-loud humor. It took me only a couple of sittings to read its 264-pages and I felt an immediate pang of regret after I finished. I didn't want to leave Natasha, Clifford, Chase, Flora, Vanessa and the other wonderful characters who I fell in love with from the opening chapter. Different Shades is the fifth book by this talented and prolific authoress who is fast establishing a worldwide reputation for boundary-pushing fiction. Different Shades of the Same Color is the perfect travelling companion for a long bus or plane trip or a lazy day at the beach. Warning: If you take this book to the beach be careful you don't get so lost in the plot you forget to reapply the sunscreen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read Awesome read! I am an huge fan of Mima. I read all the time and usually nothing in a book surprises me but with this book, it was an adventure. I could not put it down and every time I thought I had her book figured out, including the ending, she threw me a curve ball. Cannot wait to read more of her books. Anyone that loves to read....should def pick this book up. Never a dissappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another GREAT read! I have been following this author for some time, and have read all her works to date, but I must say, as much as I loved Her Name is Mariah, this new book has blown it out of the water. It takes you through, not only one daughter’s emotional scares, but her adopted sister’s as well. Seamlessly flowing into major reveals that make it impossible to put the book down; even if you’re supposed to be working on your weekly reports. Another great read!
