Washington Post

“Mary McCarthy, Anne Rivers Siddons, and a host of others have portrayed the power and value of female friendships, but no one has done it with more grace, charm, talent, and power than Rebecca Wells.”
Richmond Times-Dispatch

The incomparable #1 New York Times bestseller—a book that reigned at the top of the list for an remarkable sixty-eight weeks—Rebecca Wells’s Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood is a classic of Southern women’s fiction to be read and reread over and over again. A poignant, funny, outrageous, and wise novel about a lifetime friendship between four Southern women, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood brilliantly explores the bonds of female friendship, the often-rocky relationship between mothers and daughters, and the healing power of humor and love, in a story as fresh and uplifting as when it was first published a decade and a half ago. If you haven’t yet met the Ya-Yas, what are you waiting for?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good read I enjoyed this book but I confess I love the movie more. This book can drag a little bit but overall worth a read.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not my cup of tea I couldn't finish it, I did not find it interesting enough to finish and I usually give books a chance and read to the end but I just couldn't

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Divine as the title says I was so excited to read this book and I certainly was not let down. It was more than I expected. There was so much detail without dragging on, the characters came out of the book and you could see all of the action happening right in front of your eyes. My favourite part was when she ends up in the hospital. I love the nurse.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Alright Okay, honestly, it wasn't half bad. It certainly could have used a little more excitement. It got better closer to the end, but still wasn't the greatest. It seemed like it was being told from the wrong perspective. Because it reflected a lot on past memories, it should've been first person, instead of from her daughter's point of view. Overall, it was a really great, emotional story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I loved this book. I read it in two days- couldn't put it down. I laughed and cried along with the characthers. I associated at times with Sidda, Vivi, Neici and even God forgive me Buggy. I wish I had Caro's elegance (I'd love to look like a Gap model) and Teensy's life, from her wonderful parents to her perfect husband. A blissful read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must read for mothers and daughters I've bypassed this book in bookstores and librairies for years. I thought this would be one of those sappy, fluffy books about mothers and daughters. Boy, was I wrong! The author did a great job capturing the complex emotions felt by mothers and daughters everywhere. Timeless.
