Think twice before you make a wish in this imaginative, twisted, and witty new novel from the author of Another Little Piece.

When Lennie brings a few jars of her uncles’ moonshine to Michaela Gordon’s house party, she has everyone who drinks it make a wish. It’s tradition. So is the toast her uncles taught her: “May all your wishes come true, or at least just this one.”

The thing is, those words aren’t just a tradition. The next morning, every wish—no matter how crazy—comes true. And most of them turn out bad. But once granted, a wish can’t be unmade . . .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Witty Humour with a Side of Horror A really ingenious take on the old "be careful what you wish for" precautionary tale. A little hint? It involves moonshine and a family tradition. I really enjoyed this read! It was quick, clever and humorous, while also somewhat thought provoking. Also, though there is a (somewhat clichéd) romantic plot point, it was refreshingly minimized by all the truly bizarre wishes being granted. Stainless-steel balls...? Oh, and the way time is reflected in the epilogue was quite clever. Unfortunately, the clever wit I enjoyed didn't always balance out with the darker aspects of the book. It takes a really delicate hand to successfully balance humor and body-mutilation or physical abuse. Granted, humour is subjective. In my opinion, the balance grew increasingly worse as the plot progressed. I recommend this book for those looking for a light read that is not a romance, or for those who like witty-humour with a side of horror.

Editorial Reviews

“Stunning in its raw emotion. A taut, terrifying supernatural thriller.”
