Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Read with a cliffhanger ending! I bought this for my Grade 1 son and while he was able to read it easily himself, he also enjoyed snuggling up together to listen to it. It was a fun, fast paced story and I was pleasantly surprised by the cliffhanger ending (so far all the books we've read together have wrapped up by the end). I look forward to getting him the rest of the series... maybe for Christmas. In the meantime he's been busy pretending to be a dragon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good early chapter book - A fun read We ordered this book for our five year old son a few days ago, shipping was very quick. He reads at a Gr 1 level and I'd say this story is challenging but not too much. The story is fast paced and although there are a few somewhat scary/dark parts the good wins out. He's already asking about buying book 2 - When a 5 year old agrees to buy half with his own money, you KNOW it's a good book!

Praise for Dragon Masters #1: Rise of the Earth Dragon "The first of a new series of early chapter books, this entry is sure to attract fans. Brief chapters, large print, lots of action, attractive illustrations in every spread including a maplike panorama, an enviable protagonist-who wouldn't want to be a Dragon Master?-all combine to make an entertaining read. With plenty left to be resolved, the next entry will be eagerly sought after." -Kirkus Reviews
