Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gotta Love This Family! Witty, charming, & seductive. I couldn't stop laughing from beginning to end and fell maddeningly in love with the entire Brigerton Family!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Oh, did I ever enjoy this one! I'm not one for romance novels, but I thought it was great! I truly did! I liked the characters - their quick and witty repartee. Daphne was not a ditz in any way; witty, intelligent, strong in mind as well as body (you'll get that when you read it, LOL!). She broke through Simon's shell and I don't think anyone else could have. Simon - I felt bad for him. No child should ever be treated as he was. He grows up to be a very intelligent and well-spoken man, just as witty, and I liked his manner. He shouldn't have lied as he did to Daphne; he should have trusted her right off the bat with what had happened instead of her finding out as she did. A couple of actions scenes made the book even more interesting - especially when they concerned Daphne's brother, Anthony. I really liked how it came about, especially the ending. His reflection of his 'being scared to death of having children' reminded me of myself. And I was really happy he admitted it. Hyacinth, the youngest of the family, is truly a wonder, what you read of her. As intelligent as she is now, I can't wait to see what she'll be like when she grows up. And what we find out about Lady Whistledown in the epilogue has me wondering who she truly is. I can't wait to find out. This is truly a series I look forward to continuing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Found a new love I stumbled onto Julia Quinn's name while reading reviews on other books and authours. I kept reading about her superior ability to create characters that were witty and fun to read about. Since I'm a huge fan of novels in a series, I set out to read about the Bridgerton family. When I read "The Duke and I" my husband kept looking at me because I kept laughing out loud. At times I felt my heart breaking and twice I had to wipe tears from my eyes. Did I like this book? No... I loved it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from W-W-Wow This is not the first Bridgerton story that I have read, but it is the first in it's series and I absolutely fell in with it. Passion, Romance, a Brooding Rogue and a Charming Band of a Family all rolled into one. What more could you ask for?! This is my favourite Bridgerton story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You'll Fall in Love What an amazing open to the Bridgerton books! This story is riveting and beautiful. The hero is a passionate character and Daphne a great loving person. They unsuspectingly fall in love, after a scandulous episode that forces them to marry, and it's quite amazing. Beautiful dark characters that you want to get to know better!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful I don't know how else to discribe this book, but that it was beautiful. You immediately fall in love with both Daphne and Simon, and you realize that they were made for one another. The story is so touching, it makes you cry, it makes you laugh, but most of all it makes you fall in love. All the other characters in the book also help along the lines of getting you completely involved in the book. This was one of the first books I read from this author, but let me tell you I have purchased others from her since then. You will most certainly finish this in one sitting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely breathtaking! I loved this book! It was the first Julia Quinn book I read and, since then, have bought many more. She is so talented! The hero in this book is not the usual perfect rogue. I fell in love with him and with Daphne and cried for them and cheered for them from beginning to end. You will love it! I will re-read this one over and over again.

Simon Basset vows never to get married. Easier said than done, of course, as the town’s marriage-obsessed society matrons have a few suitors in mind for the bachelor. In order to prevent such a fuss, Simon pretends to be engaged to the beautiful Daphne Bridgerton. As for Daphne, she hopes that this fake courtship will bring many other suitable suitors to her door. In The Duke and I, the two begin their fraudulent romance — and soon forget that this engagement isn’t real.
