Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great companion book to Fit For Life Program. Provides some excellent fairly easy recipes with most ingredients available in Ontario CA or can easily make substitutions. Once you are on the program, your taste changes and I would disagree that the food is bland. However, you can easily add some extra spices to any dish so I don't find it a problem. Bonus is that you can make many of the obvious recipes like soups, chile etc in large batches and freeze. I have many vegan cookbooks and found this is a welcome addition since it fits the program exactly and added to my repertoire of knowledge. Emphasis is vegan with small quantity meat recipes also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent, fresh, tasty, light and healthy recipes Healthy has never tasted so good or been so easy to digest. If you want to eat a lot of fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes and nuts then this book provides an excellent starting point with delicious results. It promotes non-meat dishes and some that include fish and poultry etc. Personally I am a dedicated carnivore but would recommend this book to anyone wanting to boost the use of whole unprocessed fresh ingredients for their diet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It was Okay I guess... So after trying out a couple of the recipes in the Eat to Live cookbook, I've got a few things to say. The recipes need a little bit of touching up- but that's definitely personal preference. I tried the Mushroom Chili- which I think needs a jalapeno or two, and a couple of dashes of hot sauce. However, I usually make 5 alarm style chili, which is saying something there. My boyfriend LOVED it, as well as a coworker of mine who was almost unwilling to TRY the chili after the last pot I made had him crying. The only thing they added was some salt and pepper. The next thing I tried was the Mushroom Stroganoff [We REALLY love mushrooms in my house, what can I say?]. This one here again, I was the only one who didn't like it. Pretty sure it was the tarragon that did it for me, so I'll likely tone that recipe down on that spice if I try it again. Next thing on my list is the Poached Pears, but the ingredients are a little harder to come by. :/ Cookbook review: The recipes are incredibly simple, and really easy to execute. The ingredients lists on the other hand are not the easiest things to come by- I only found two recipes in the book in which the ingredients were standard grocery store fair. That being said, it could be just a geographical thing- these ingredients could be a great deal easier to find in other areas, just not readily available to me. Most of the people eating the recipes I tried out loved them, and from what I've seen looking through the book, the recipes all leave plenty of room for adjustments and customization while staying within the parameters of the diet. :)
