about

Darf’s ein BISSchen mehr sein? Bridget Jones goes Vampire!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Try harder! Although a main character is supposed to have character flaws in order to make them more believable, they are also supposed to grow and mature, learning lessons that help to over come their foibles. This character does not do that. It is really frustrating that such an old vampire can be such a ditz.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dangerous curves ahead! You know all the novels about the stick thin supermodel type vampires? Well, Glory St. Clair isn’t one of those. She’s got those curves and she knows how to use them. In the first installment in this refreshing series about a curvy vampire, Glory has decided to uproot and take charge of her life - taking that hourglass shape of hers to Austin, Texas. Why Austin, you ask? With being alive for centuries, you tend to accumulate a lot of great stuff over the years so Glory is opening her own little vintage clothing boutique called Vintage Vamps Emporium. It’s clever, to hide in plain sight for everyone to see. This is all to the dismay of her on and off again Scottish highlander beau, Jeremy Blade, who wants her close to keep her safe under his protection. Especially since there’s a ruthless vampire hunter on the loose that is collecting the fangs of her friends. But you didn’t think she would actually listen to him, did you? Of course not, she’s all about being an independent woman, having her own brain and thinking for herself. Since Glory’s plans are so obviously set in stone, Blade has made arrangements for a protector to accompany her on the trip to stay with her just in case she gets into any hot water. The protector goes by the name Valdez, a male shifter who has strict orders to stay in cute labradoodle dog form. We’ll see if the vampire hunter can stake this damsel in not-so-distress. Glory St. Clair has so much potential to be a great role model for the plus size women of the world. I loved that there was a book out there about a woman vampire with a thick shape, boobs and a backside. I just wished that she would have owned those curves and been more confident in herself and her body. Overall I really liked this book, it’s a fun and light read that had me turning the pages. The characters were really fun and I enjoyed every one of them and the relationships that they had with each other. A strong woman, a sarcastic pooch, a tough boyfriend, and the flirty Italian best friend with a Casanova brother. What more can you want? Next book is Real Vampires Live Large.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Vampires-lite For all the weight-conscious readers out there, this book is for you. Meet Glory St. Clair, a sexy vamp who just happened to be a size 12 when she turned the big 'V'. This is a lighter book that provides some laughs. There is definitely potential for the rest of the series. The characters were likeable enough, just not lovable. Glory was witty and sexy, but I was disappointed that despite all her talk about being an independent woman, she is still down in the dumps when the two guys in her life don't call her. She's no Betsy the Vampire Queen, but it's worth taking a look if you are looking for a light easy read (think beach book).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clever and Fun Okay this is a great, fun read. If your looking for something with not too much substance, not a real meaningful vampire book this is perfect. Glory, the main character is someone every woman can relate to. No matter how many people tell her she's beautiful she thinks otherwise, she fights for independance and runs her own business. The other characters are equally great. From Jerimiah Blade (no realation to the vampire hunter) to Lacy the werecat you can't go wrong. The characters are all fun! Forget the plot the characters alone are great. Of course with a rogue techno gech vamp hunter everyones on guard which does make for a pretty good plot to accompany these characters I've raved so much about. Any fans of paranormal romance have to read this series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Loved It! I'm really glad for the suggestion of this book as a BotM, Kathleen. I thought it was great! I thought Glory had attitude, strength, smarts, a soft heart for her friends, and she can make any reader laugh, even when she's not trying to be funny. She's brave, even when she could swear her heart will beat right out of her chest. And Valdez, her truly exceptional dog. You'll have to read it to understand what I mean. I really liked Jeremiah - strong, domineering and totally in love with her. But with his 'me-Tarzan-you-Jane' attitude, he doesn't understand Glory's need for independence. He learns though, and it's hurtful for both of them. I really don't like Damian. I don't like his advances on Glory, knowing just the kind of man/vamp he is. Reading the way he's after Glory, you know that if she was to ever fall for him, he'd leave lickety-split. He loves the chase and nothing more. Mara is ticking me off more and more. Blade doesn't see what she's up to, but Glory does, and it's 'killing' her. I liked the other characters. Some you wish you knew personally, some you'd love to meet and be acquainted with, and some you love to hate. An excellent plot with twists. Mystery, suspense, awesome love scenes, cool action scenes, I couldn't ask for better. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!
