A Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick

“Beautifully written and incredibly funny, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is about the importance of friendship and human connection. I fell in love with Eleanor, an eccentric and regimented loner whose life beautifully unfolds after a chance encounter with a stranger; I think you will fall in love, too!” —Reese Witherspoon

No one’s ever told Eleanor that life should be better than fine.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.

But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one.

Soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is the smart, warm, and uplifting story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .
The only way to survive is to open your heart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read! This is an excellent read - I read it in a weekend and couldn't put it down. The main character is so well-drawn, and so are the supporting characters. I liked that the author didn't describe the abuse from Eleanor's childhood - it was enough to know that terrible things happened without having gory details. Excellent ending.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An interesting main character I struggled to get into this book, but eventually I got into the story and really enjoyed it! Eleanor was a very interesting main character to me because she hides so much about her past but is still haunted by it - I wondered throughout the entire book how much would be revealed in the end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! It was equal parts charming, equal parts funny, equal parts serious and equal parts important. Eleanor was such a special character I just wanted to bundle her up in a blanket and hug her. She'd love it and think I was completely insane at the same time. There were so many strong themes in this one that kept me interested in her story. I love Eleanor!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It took me a minute When I started this book I made some assumptions about who Eleanor was/is. How the author unfolded her story was beautiful. I loved this book! Heart wrenching and sad but a wonderful story of resilence

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good book It took me a while to like Eleanor, but by the end she’d grown on me. This is a quirky, well-written story.
