Based on the lecture notes used by the author in his basic electronics courses in the Dept. of Physics at Ball State U., this text takes an unusual approach to teaching the fundamentals of electronics to physicists; namely it shows in detail, via photographs from real circuits, the waveforms obtained at various points in an electronic circuit. Although these waveforms sometimes look like what is predicted by the simple theories discussed in elementary courses, they are at times quite different. The text uses these differences to develop a more thorough understanding of the individual components and of the circuit as a whole. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
