Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommended Summer Reading Difficult to get into at first, but then equally difficult to put down. The plot was revealed in quite an unusual manner. The conclusions were presented first followed by an explanation several chapters later, which made for quite an interesting read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best novels of the year I was unable to stop reading "Elizabeth and After" for many reasons: its characters and intertwining stories, the subtle manner in which it introduces you to its ideas and lets you discover many of its wonderful secrets, among others. It is reminiscent of "Last Seen" with strong characters and memorable scenes and is surely to stay with the reader after many books. A deserving winner of the Governor General's Award in 1999.

Lively, strong, bursting with juice, quirky, and unpredictable...A real novel shaped by its characters rather than jamming them into a formula.
