An abused child, yet confident of her destiny to reign, a woman in a man's world, passionately sexual—though, as she maintained, a virgin—Elizabeth I is famed as England's most successful ruler. Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite Elizabeth biography I've had an affection for Elizabeth I since childhood. While she was deeply flawed, her story is one that still fascinates after 500 years. I have read 4 or 5 Elizabeth biographies and this is by far my favourite. Worth the read.
