Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Enjoyed It Even though I didn't read any of the ones before this, or know there was one's before this, I enjoyed this book a lot. What I loved the most, was the world the author made. A world of different gods, monsters, and rules/laws. All of it really interested me. And once I learned there was books before this, and even one after it, even though it's not necessarily about Elphame, had me very excited. So if the description was of any interest to you, you'll probably like it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK I didn't realize this book was part of a series but it is also completely stand-alone and I didn't have any trouble following the story. The first half of the book was really good, I liked Elphame and empathized with her on being different and being treated as such. I enjoyed the rest of the characters and even the castle came to life. Unfortunately the second half just wasn't very good, Elphame became a shell of herself when she met Lochlan and the events just no longer made sense.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dreaming of Books Review Elphame’s Choice is the fourth book in the Goddess of Partholon series by P.C. Cast. It takes place about 125 years after the events that happened in the first three books. It’s about Elphame who is Shannon’s great granddaughter and she’s also the daughter of Etain, the current Goddess Incarnate of Epona. She’s been touched by the goddess in a special way in that she’s part human, part centaur. All her life Elphame has been worshipped and revered but all she really wants to be like everyone else. She knows her calling is to rebuild the old MacCallan Castle. For Elphame, the castle symbolizes so much for her…she’s starting a new chapter in her life and it’s a place she can call her own and fit in with others which is something she has never been able to do. Unlike the previous titles, the story wasn’t all centered on Elphame. There’s a side storyline about her younger brother, Cuchulainn. I was actually more drawn to Cuchulainn character than Lochlain’s. Cuchulainn changes so much within the course of the story and by the books end my heart just broke for him because he lost the one person that he found love with…yes it was sad and I cried a bit too. The thing that bothered me a little was that I found out before I started reading the book that it’s a YA novel but there is a pretty explicit sex scene…which I wasn’t expecting at all. The UK copy that I got does say it’s not suitable for younger readers so if any teens decide to read this, I would recommend they at least be 16+.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Amazing!!! The moment I started reading this book...there was no putting it down. I was hooked on this beautiful story along with the amazing characters. The romance was breathtaking, P.C Cast created an unbelievable story that leaves you thinking about it after you've closed the book. The whole idea of this story is truely brilliant, and so creative...The characters were not what I expected--in such a good way. Elphame is an amazing character, it's as if you can feel her strength, power and bravery throughout the book. She's a beautiful character that has more to her...she's not fully human, she's also half godess....and half centaur. Elphame truly feels that no man will ever love her, few people dare to touch the young godess...People idolize and worship her, but she feels that she will never fit in, and it's just not the same for her, That is why she wants to leave and travel to the MacCallan Castle to restore it, it was taken down in a horrible fire. Elphame has made her decision and is leaving to restore the castle, and her brother Cuchulainn, the handsome warrior is traveling by her side. He has psychic abilities, and he gets these feelings and visions sometimes...Before Elphame was going to begin her travel, he had a blurry vision that included a man, he couldn't exactly tell who or what this man was, but all he knew was that it involved Elphame and her new life at the Castle, He can tell that man in the vision is in fact Elphame's lifemate. Cuchulainn will do anything to protect his sister, his vision isn't clear which what worries him, this man in the vision isn't normal... Elphame begins her journey and restores the castle, along with centaur workers, warriors and a new crew of women to restore the inside of the castle. Elphame becomes very close to some of these women, and becomes their friend..which Elphame never really had before. She can feel the magic and the connection she has to this castle, she knows she has made the right choice, she belongs at this castle.... In the forest a man watches Elphame, he is transfixed by her beauty and strength. He has dreamed of her since she was just a little girl, and he will do anything to be with her. He loves her more than anything, but he knows that it is dangerous to be with her...There is a Prophecy that is to be completed to save his people...Even though he wants his people to be saved, His love for Elphame will always be stronger.. I absolutely loved this story, IT WAS AMAZING!! The magic and love that flows through this book is truly unforgettable. I cannot wait to read the sequel, Brighid's Quest. Brighid is another amazing character that really made this book what it was..we didn't see much of her so I cannot wait to read the next book and find out what her Quest is all about!..
