Rated 5 out of 5 by from Embrace The Night This is an urban fantasy with a twist. First book has a lot of information that might not stick at first but as the story progresses everything falls in to place. I love this series and highly recommend it to fantasy lovers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good series. But not a great series. I can see what about it would make it a great series for some people. It's a little to romance novely for me. This is the third book in the series, and while I do enjoy them, it's not for the roller coaster ride of the plot. I find them to all be a little bit similar. I read them more to cleanse my mind after something with more depth. They are a nice easy read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeps getting better Embrace The Night is the third book in the Cassie Palmer series, and I have to say this series keeps getting better as it goes, the first one I had my doubts about the series because it was a little slow but I'm very happy I have continued to read this series. Overall the book was great I loved the action and the twists and turns and the characters keep getting better as well I am loving Mercia and Pritkin they make an interesting story. The book was really great, if you read the first two books this will not dissapoint. :0)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hooked This series gets you hooked. Cassie never seems to get a break. Will she find the Codex to break the geis between her and Mircea? Does Pritkin have feeling for Cassie? This book is probably my favorite out of the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I ansolutely loved this book I loved all the books including this one. They just keep getting better and better. The ending was not what I thought it would be but it was still good. At parts it is a fast past book but I think that just addes to it. There are parts were you want to go back and read them over and over again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Embrace the Adventures of Cassie Palmer Cassandra Palmer – Cassie to her friends and Pythia to everyone else – can’t seem to find her way out of trouble. A spell, placed on Cassie as a child, has gone horribly wrong and is causing havoc in her here and now. She needs to find the counter spell before it’s too late. Unfortunately, the spell resides in a book that most claim is a myth. And those who believe it is real would kill Cassie to stop her from finding it. And to top it all off, her allies consist of a ghost, an insane vampire, and a traitorous war mage. Mircea is the master vampire who had the spell placed on Cassie as a child. It was supposed to be a spell to ensure her safety. However, the spell is tied to both Mircea and Cassie, and now that it has gone haywire it is driving him insane. Pritkin is a war mage who is now being hunted by his brethren for desertion. His orders were to kill Cassie but when she became Pythia he had a change of heart. Now he insists he only wants to train and protect her. The problem is Pritkin holds so many secrets Cassie doesn’t know who or what to believe. One thing is certain, unless they find a way to lift the spell, Cassie and Mircea may not live to see the next full moon. And through it all Cassie must learn to use her new powers while fighting off the war mages, vampires, and demons set on killing her. Karen Chance has written another thrilling story in the third instalment of the Cassie Palmer series. Embrace the Night delivers frenzied action, energetic intrigue and a delightful dose of romance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Out Of Three So Far This book was the best out of all three, the story line was amazing, all the original characters were in it plus some new ones. Her story twists and turns but in the end it all works out. I really like the main character, she’s clumsy and funny and most defiantly makes the story all the better. I really hope Karen Chance continues on with this character and delves into a series I know I would really enjoy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good book I kinda cheated and skipped the first two books and started the series with the 3rd book, but that's only because Chapter's didn't have the first two books available. Which I don't recommend anybody doing b/c some parts you just don't know what's going if you haven’t read the first two books, but overall I'd have to say that Karen Chance is an engaging author. I was enthralled and pulled into her world of vampires, clairvoyants, and war mages. Although I've noticed that she has taken some elements from Laurell k Hamilton and Kim Harrison, I still enjoyed this book because it was original and interesting in her own way. The main character is Cassandra Palmer. She is a clairvoyant who just recently gained a new amazing power, but is still learning how to use and control it. She is on a quest to search for an ancient Codex, which contains the only spell that can uplift a 'geis' that a Master Vampire, Mircea, has put on her. The Codex is rumored to be lost forever or not even exist, but she has no choice and must try to find it to not only save her life if she fails, but others as well. Along the way she obtains a powerful war mage, Pritkin, as an ally. However she can’t really trust anybody because there are ulterior motives for everybody to keep the Codex for themselves. There's a lot of action right from the first chapter, and a lot of built up sexual tension between Cassandra, Mircea and Pritkin. She actually chooses a guy in the end, but I wonder if the other guy will accept it? I can't wait for the next book to be released.

Editorial Reviews

“Returning from Touch the Dark and Claimed by Shadow, Cassie Palmer has finally become Pythia, the supernatural community’s all-knowing oracle. She’s struggling with her new powers (such as shifting back and forth through time) and is stuck between good and evil factions of the paranormal community. Her main concern, though, is to figure out how to reverse a pesky spell that threatens her independence: the geis, once placed on her for protection, is now trying to bind her to the handsome master vampire, Mircea, with results detrimental to them both. The only solution is to find the fabled book that has the counterspell—find it in space and time. Cassie—in her struggles between her passionate need for independence, her burgeoning feelings for Mircea and her conflicts with her new role as Pythia—is a well-rounded character, and the intensity and complexity of the plot puts her through her paces physically, emotionally and psychically.”-Publishers Weekly "Karen Chance will enthrall you with her world of vampires, mages, and a fair maiden tough enough to kick their butts."-USA Today bestselling author Rebecca York "A great writer of supernatural fantasy that is on a par with the works of Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, and Kelley Armstong."-Midwest Book Review
