Fans of Sarah Dessen will devour Robin Benway's story of romance, coming-of-age emotion, and heartache, now in paperback.

Emmy just wants to be in charge of her own life....

She wants to stay out late, surf her favorite beach—go anywhere without her parents’ relentless worrying. But Emmy’s parents can’t seem to let her grow up—not since the day Oliver disappeared.

Oliver needs a moment to figure out his heart....

He’d thought, all these years, that his dad was the good guy. He never knew that it was his father who kidnapped him and kept him on the run. Discovering this, and finding himself returned to his old hometown, has his heart racing and his thoughts swirling.

Emmy and Oliver were going to be best friends forever, or maybe even more, before their futures were ripped apart. In Emmy’s soul, despite the space and time between them, their connection has never been severed. But is their story still written in the stars? Or are their hearts like the pieces of two different puzzles—impossible to fit together?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So cute! Emmy and Oliver were childhood best friends until Oliver's Dad kidnaps him and disappears for 10 years. Everyone in the community is affected, especially Emmy as she lives next door and her parents become super overprotective, worried that something like what happened to Oliver could happen to her. After Oliver is found, he comes home to his Mom, 2 new sisters and the friends he left behind. Despite the subject matter this is a super easy and quick read. I ended up reading this start to finish in one night because it was super easy to breeze through. It's a cute contemporary and just what I was in the mood for!

Editorial Reviews

“Emmy’s narration is smart and sassy, and the romance plot is satisfying... An unusual blend of a soulmate story, a melodramatic plot, and a realistic book about adjustment, growth, and change, this will please romance fans as well as pragmatic souls with a sentimental streak.”
