The New York Times bestseller and international multimedia phenomenon!

In each generation, for thousands of years, twelve Players have been ready. But they never thought Endgame would happen. Until now.

Omaha, Nebraska. Sarah Alopay stands at her graduation ceremony—class valedictorian, star athlete, a full life on the horizon. But when a meteor strikes the school, she survives. Because she is the Cahokian Player. Endgame has begun.

Juliaca, Peru. At the same moment, thousands of miles away, another meteor strikes. But Jago Tlaloc is safe. He has a secret, and his secret makes him brave. Strong. Certain. He is the Olmec Player. He's ready. Ready for Endgame.

Across the globe, twelve meteors slam into Earth. Cities burn. But Sarah and Jago and the ten others Players know the truth. The meteors carry a message. The Players have been summoned to The Calling. And now they must fight one another in order to survive. All but one will fail. But that one will save the world. This is Endgame.

James Frey is originally from Cleveland. All four of his books,A Million Little Pieces,My Friend Leonard,Bright Shiny Morning, andThe Final Testament of the Holy Bible, were international bestsellers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique Concept and Amazing Outcome This is the first of the Endgame trilogy and honestly, these books were amazing. My friend and I read them together and we loved discussing who our favourite characters were and the events that happened. The book is structured through the perspective of each player making it very interesting as you learn every side of the story. The concept is so unique and entertaining that you don't want to put the book down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A "Calling" Not to Be Resisted I agree with the other reviews about the beginning of the book being difficult to get through at first, but I personally enjoyed that the entire book was written through varied points of view. The ability to learn about each character of the game through their own personal thoughts and narrative while also reading the other players thoughts about each character really puts the reader in a "game" type of feeling. Your mind fights the conflicting thoughts and narratives until you found yourself connecting with specific character(s). It is as though you are given the choice of which players' clan you want to be a part of. Once you get through the beginning and become comfortable with it constantly changing narrative voices, you will not be disappointed! About to order the second book and I cannot wait to see what the next installment has for the players!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I loved the general idea but it was a tough book to get into. It took me a while to truly grasp everything in the story. I'll be honest and say that I was around 130 pages in when I finally got all of the names right along with their descriptions. There were times where I had to go back to see who a person was again and what he or she looked like. I guess I just feel like there were too many story-lines to follow in this book. It did, however, speed up towards the middle and it had just as much action straight to the end.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Interesting, then not. The beginning was somewhat hard to get through, then became somewhat interesting, but really didn't have enough to arouse interest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it. The beginning was a little hard to get through, but it got super good afterwards. I couldn't put this down. One of the best action series I have read so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I wished the storyline would have been more original and that the reader would actually have the possibility to resolve by himself the different clues. Not really immersive, I think.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bookkk!! I bought this book because of all the hype and it definetly exceeded my expectations. The beginning was a little hard to get into because of the numbers and names and different stories but it was a really great book. I will be getting next book and hopefully it is as good as this one!!!

Editorial Reviews

“The premise is engaging, in a Hunger Games-meets-National Treasure sort of way, and the diverse global cast is welcome.”
