Nicknamed 'The Desert Fox' for his cunning command of the Afrika Korps, Erwin Rommel remains one of the most popular and studied of Germany's World War II commanders. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Generalized This was a general overview of Rommel's military service. If you're looking for insights into his personal life this isn't the book for you. It left the controversy over his death open to personal interpretion rather than arguing for or against his participation in the July 20th plot. There are no value judgments on his life which is proper for a history book.

Editorial Reviews

"Erwin Rommel, nicknamed 'The Desert Fox,' is covered here in a survey that blends over 40 photographs from a range of European collectors with color plates of battles, maps, and in-depth coverage of Rommel's strategies. It comes from an author with a PhD in military history and is not to be missed by any in-depth military collection." -The Midwest Book Review (November 2010)"Dynamic artwork, rare photographs, good supportive references. Whether to introduce you to 'The Desert Fox' or to further your knowledge of him, this is a fine book." -Frederick Boucher, Armorama (November 2010)
