At Ever After High, an enchanting boarding school, the children of fairytale legends prepare themselves to fulfill their destinies as the next generation of Snow Whites, Prince Charmings and Evil Queens...whether they want to or not. Each year on Legacy Day, students sign the Storybook of Legends to seal their scripted fates. For generations, the Village of Book End has whispered that refusing to sign means The End-both for a story and for a life.

As the daughter of the Evil Queen, Raven Queen's destiny is to follow in her mother's wicked footsteps, but evil is so not Raven's style. She's starting to wonder, what if she rewrote her own story? The royal Apple White, daughter of the Fairest of Them All, has a happy ever after planned for herself, but it depends upon Raven feeding her a poison apple in their future.

What if Raven doesn't sign the Storybook of Legends? It could mean a happily never after for them both.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review from This is the Story of My(Reading) Life So this was a total cover buy for me. It's gorgeous. And luckily the inside is just as adorable. The story takes place at a boarding school for the children of fairy tale characters. These kids are studying and taking classes so they can prepare themselves to become the storybook characters their parents are. And than on Legacy Day the students sign the Storybook of Legends to seal their fate. But not everyone wants whats supposedly in store for them. Like Raven Queen who is the daughter of the Evil Queen. Raven is the total opposite of her mother; polite, nice and loving. Although everyone expects her to be evil and mean. And for the most part a lot of the students stay away from her. But she does have her close friends that understand her and don't necessarily want what's in store for themselves either. Raven's roommate is Apple White, the daughter of Snow White. Apple is the epitome of a good princess. She wants to her fate and she's scared that Raven is going to ruin it for her. I really like Raven. She's strong and isn't afraid to be herself. She's on a mission to figure out a different future for herself if she doesn't sign her fate away. Raven and Apple do strike up an unlikely friendship and understanding. Apple wants to help Raven see that signing the book is the only option and as good as her intentions are, we know what good intentions usually lead to. Storybook of Legends has pretty much everything I like in my middle grade reads. Fast paced, cute, fantastic character development with an enjoyable story. I can't wait to continue on with the series and see just how much Raven can change the storybook world.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ever After High The concept of the story is fun even though it is an elaborate marketing ploy for mattel's new set of character dolls. It will be interesting to see how the next part plays out... Does the story maintain integrity and interest?

Editorial Reviews

"Rollicking...a fun read...Unexpected plot twits lead to an ending that, unlike a traditional "happy ever after," promises continued intrigue in new outings. This is a good bet for those who can't get enough of fractured and retold tales."-Booklist
