It's the aftermath of Legacy Day, the day when the students at Ever After High are supposed to pledge to follow in their fairytale parents' footsteps, and everyone is in a huff and a puff! Raven Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen, has refused to sign the Storybook of Legends, rejecting her story--and putting everyone else's in jeopardy.

The Royal Apple White doesn't want to think Raven is being a rebellious pain, but Raven's choice means Apple might never get the poisoned apple, Prince Charming, and a kingdom to rule. Behind Apple stands the Royals, those who want to play by the book and embrace their stories. The Rebels, supporters of Raven, believe in breaking free from destiny and writing their own stories.

But when the chaos and rivalry land wonderlandiful Madeline Hatter in trouble, Raven and Apple must bring the Royals and the Rebels together to shut the book on their feud before it threatens to end all of their Happily Ever Afters once and for all.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun and Exciting I think this book is intriguing! I couldn't stop reading it! The characters are not realistic but are still funny and the storyline is extremely interesting. I found there was enough detail to let me know what was going on (especially describing how the characters looked). The setting of the story also appealed to me because it was very imaginative . It sounds like a fun place to be and so it captured my interest. This book teaches you that your choices can impact everyone around you, and I think that is a very good lesson to learn. One thing that Shannon Hale could improve on though, is the length of the book. This book seemed to be shorter than the first book in the series. Overall, this is a fabulous book and perfect for anyone who likes fantasy and fractured fairytales. I love the characters and their in depth personalities the most. There were a few plot details left out but this did not matter much since there were so many descriptive words. This replaced any missing details and always left me excited to read more at the end of a chapter. I enjoyed each chapter to the last word. I am really looking forward to reading the last book in the trilogy!!!

Editorial Reviews

"Rollicking...a fun read...Unexpected plot twits lead to an ending that, unlike a traditional "happy ever after," promises continued intrigue in new outings. This is a good bet for those who can't get enough of fractured and retold tales."
