Rachel Morgan's back! Bestselling author Kim Harrison returns with a new supernatural adventure that fans of Laurell K. Hamilton and Charlaine Harris won't want to miss.

Some days, you just can't win. Witch and former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan's managed to escape her corrupt company, survive living with a vampire, start her own runner service, and face down a vampire master.

But her vampire roommate Ivy is off the wagon, her human boyfriend Nick is out of town indefinitely and doesn't sound like he's coming back while the far-too-seductive vampire Kisten is looking way too tempting, and there's a turf war erupting in Cincinnati's underworld.

And there's a greater evil still. To put the vampire master behind bars and save her family, Rachel made a desperate bargain and now there's hell to pay—literally. For if Rachel cannot stop him, the archdemon Algaliarept will pull her into the sorcerous ever-after to forfeit her soul as his slave. Forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vampire Boot Scootin Boogie This is the 3rd offering in The Hollows Series & picks up in proximity to where book 2 left off. Rachel’s tendency to make alliances based on convenience has caught up with her as her demon Algaliarept has fulfilled his part of the bargain to testify against Piscary & now seeks Rachel out to become his familiar. Rachel’s bag of charms are not enough to save her soul this time & she is forced to work quickly to improve her ley line proficiency. Boyfriend Nick is pretty much AWOL which may not disappoint the reader but leaves Rachel feeling abandoned. Not to fear, enter bad boy Kisten who is anxious to convince Rachel to try a vampire on for size, much to Ivy’s chagrin. Ivy has given up her status as non-practicing & still looks to Rachel as a potential scion but Rachel affirms again that she’s just not that into her! Our favorite pixie roommate Jenks does move out in this tale because Rachel did not trust him with Trent’s secret but hopefully the absence is short lived. Rachel reluctantly accepts a job to act as security for Trent at a business meeting but ends up getting caught in the middle of a supernatural drug lord turf war. More is revealed of Rachel’s past in regards to her father but I imagine there is much more to come from the interaction of the two characters in books to come. This book has some great comedic moments, so look for the Bite Me Betty doll & vampire line dancing! The series itself gets better with each book & I have already started ‘A Fistful of Charms’.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely my favourite in the series so far. This is my favorite in the series so far. I think the difference is that it's more exciting than the previous Rachel Morgan books. There was more action in the plot and in the bedroom (well it was actually a couch but you know what I mean). The first two are very good and I would recommend reading them before this one. Every Which Way But Dead is not the type you can enjoy without reading the first two. I would recommend the whole series to any fan of Sookie Stackhouse, Mercy Thompson, or Anita Blake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To protect the one you loath Every Which Way But Dead is the 3rd book in the Rachel Morgan Hollows series. In the last book, Rachel made a deal with a demon named Big Al. She agreed to be his familiar if he could help put Piscary in jail. Now Big Al is back and wants Rachel to pay up. Nick leaves town, unable to deal with being Rachel’s familiar. Rachel is having a hard time accepting he’s gone and hopes he will come back. Kisten is still trying date Rachel and she starts to accept his advances. Kisten is the bad boy vamp and scion of Piscary. Ivy, who is supposed to be the Piscary scion and is refusing the job. She is also a practicing vamp. This is making her easier to live with. But she doesn’t like Kisten attempting to date Rachel. Ivy wants Rachel’s blood and wants her in bed. Rachel is asked to protect Trent Kalmack. She takes the job although she loathes him. She needs to pay her rent. Rachel is the only one who knows what Trent really is and she never tells Jenks because she is scared he will tell everyone. When Jenks finds out he leaves the church. Rachel starts to get more information about her past and her deceased father’s work with Trent’s father. I loved this book! It was even better than the last. I love the building relationship between Kisten and Rachel. I cried at the end of the book when the girls got their Christmas presents from Jenks. I do hope he comes back. I find these books always build on the last. Therefore, you need to read the books from the first. Kim Harrison’s world is fascinating and amazing. She is a wonderful and gifted writer. All the little things in the books always come back to tie in the end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Third time's a charm and charm you this one will. I just can't keep my hands off these books. Harrison continues to sends thrills up and down my spine. Her writing is clever and funny and completely engrossing. She even had me crying at one point in this book. The world of the Hollows expands in a new and fascinating direction at every turn and Rachel becomes more interesting every time she narrowly escapes death. If sh*t's goin' down, it's goin' down on Rachel Morgan. I want to be her, kick-ass earth witch that she is. The fear is real, the sorrow tangible, the humour high and the sex is incredible. An excellent book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best so far This book is the best so far in the series. I loved that Kisten is more prominent in this book (I have a huge crush on him!! yumma yumma!! and he's so sensitive for a vampire). This book feels like a huge stepping stone to the adventures still brewing in Rachel's life. New characters are introduced in this book. It will be really interesting to see what happens as the next book has some old ones coming back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Third times a charm Rachel has really done it this time. At the end of Harrison's second Hollow's book, Rachel agreed to be Big Al's familiar, just to beable to put the witch killer away. Thinking she had outsmarted him, she goes on with her life. Too bad Al never forgets. When Rachel summons him to try and get out of her deal, she meets Ceri, Al's elf familiar. Rachel is to take her place. By now, the reader knows Rachel doesn't do anything unless she wants to. The third installment of the Hollow's is an emotional time for Rachel, she gains a friend, offends one and gets pulled into the ever-after. I don't really like reading series, I find most to be repetative. Not Kim's series though. Each book has something new going on, while solving the prior books unsolved issues. Also, her characters are so real, and make stupid mistakes like we do. Her ideas are original and won't ever be a bore!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible! Can't ask for better! I swear, this is one of the best series' I've read. Plenty of action, a little love, and a total mix of different and complex characters, included with a plot well written and twists, another excellent novel. Rachel is as she always is, and tries to do her best, even when she doesn't know what or how. Nick lost something good, Kisten found something right, and Big Al gets what he deserves. I think, or hope, that Ivy will finally come to understand that her partnership with Rachel is purely platonic. I hope that Kisten can finally break some of Rachel's shell, and I hope she can patch things up with Jenks. Rachel learns more and more as the series goes on, and she's definitely becoming more proficient in her field. The way Harrison writes her novels, you're sucked in with the first sentence and sigh with the ending of the last sentence, then jump up for the next book. I can't keep my hands off. Some refer the series as a cross between Stephanie Plum and Anita Blake. It's the best example I read, and the best that describes it. I can't get enough of Rachel and her crew, and I truly hope that this series will be around for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Entertaining It wasn't as good as the second book but I still enjoyed reading it. There are new characters introduced and Rachel gets stronger with ley line magic. Can't wait to read the 4th book .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spell Binding A phenomenal read. Kim Harrison continues to grow and intrigued the readers imagination. I could not put the book down to which I needed to purchase the next installment half way through so as I could continue the series asap. Superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They Keep Getting Better! This is the third book in a series - "Dead Witch Walking" and "The Good, the Bad, and the Undead" are the first two, and I suggest reading them first. You'll be hooked quickly by Harrison's clever writing. Her characters are all engaging and complex, and her dialogue is witty. This book features Kisten a lot more than the first two, which has pleased Harrison's fans greatly. If Laurell K Hamilton is getting to raunchy for you, or if you're a Kelley Armstrong or Rachel caine fan, you will love this series!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite book in the series! I love this series. But this particular book, for some reason, is the one I pick up and re-read whenever I'm between gripping novels. Good action, emotional layers, and it fleshes out the relationships between the characters -- in more ways than one! ;-) It does not work as a stand-alone; you have to have read Dead Witch Walking and The Good, The Bad and The Undead to know what's going on. Frankly, every so often I go on a binge and read all three again. The main character, Rachel, kicks butt. She can take care of herself even as she allows herself to lean on those around her. In this book, her powers expand even further and she deals with the ramifications of this. Trent becomes a more sympathetic character as we get to know him better, as does Quen ... and Kisten. If you enjoy entertainment like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series (before the last few releases), Kelley Armstrong and Charlaine Harris ... you'll want to check out this book -- and the ones that came before it.

"The world of the Hollows is fast-moving, funny, harrowing and scary, and—the greatest compliment to a fantasy—absolutely real." (Diana Gabaldon)
