about

Sedona happily turns down Steve Huntington’s latest undercover project when Mark gets her a fantastic job testing advanced cell phones. But if the dead body of her co-worker is any indication, the new job may not prove to be any safer than Huntington’s covert assignments.

Sedona finds herself knee-deep in dirt and tangled in clues that unravel faster than the baby bib she is supposed to be sewing for her niece. Her parents are in town to visit the new baby, and Mark has decided it’s time for Sedona to meet his mother. Can she somehow endure family interferences and stay alive long enough to solve the case?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sedona is back! Now I love reading anything Maria Schneider will write, but cozy mysteries are my favorite genre. I first found Ms Schneider by reading Executive Lunch. After I read the Executive series, I read her stand alones, her urban fantasy, her dragons, and a couple others I don't know how to classify. I loved them all. But she's been kind enough to write another Sedona, and it's worth the wait. I remember years ago thinking, "Why only write about doctors, cops and lawyers? Why aren't there any, say, programmers?" (I was a programmer at the time). While, since that time, cozy professionals have branched out to cookie bakers and quilt makers, Sedona is the answer to my request for computer professionals. But even if you haven't had personal experience at a startup at that point in the project where management is hinting at cots under the desks so you don't have to waste time going home (as I have) you'll love Sedona. Maria Schneider writes beautifully. Her characters are realistic. They act fluidly as the story develops (rather than being moved around with visible puppet strings because the plot requires it). The pacing keeps you involved in the story throughout. The plot is interesting and not obvious. And you can't beat Colorado as a locale. If you like cozy mysteries, you'll love Sedona. And then, even if you don't normally like paranormal or UF, I urge you to try Ms Schneider's other works. I bet you'll like them as well. I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. However, I liked Executive Dirt so much, I purchased my own copy.
