Debt of Honor ends as Jack Ryan is confirmed vice president minutes before a mammoth act of terrorism kills the President, most of his cabinet, all but a few members of Congress, the entire Supreme Court and all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Suddenly Ryan is President, which is where Executive Orders begins.

Ryan's responsibilities crush in on him. Where should he begin? He must calm a nation, pacify world leaders, arrange a massive funeral -- while he rebuilds a government as quickly as possible. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read I must have read this book at least 10 times. I love the complexity of the story, how it moves between story lines, and in the end manages to tie it all together. Having followed the Jack Ryan universe from book one, I feel like I know these people. Kinda fun drawing paralells to certain TV series too... Has Sorkin read this series?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clancy's best It seems Clancy just gets better with each book. Jack Ryan becomes even more believeable in this conclusion to Debt of Honour as he shows more of a human side and less of the superhero style. Tom manages to weave many (many) plotlines throughout the book but ties them all up beautifully at the end. Read Debt of Honour first then Executive Orders.
