about

Falling in love on his eightieth birthday was not one of the planned party surprises, but Cupid's arrow hits Uncle Teo hard. The rest of the Mantoni family, however, is in an uproar because the new girlfriend, Olga, has an astonishing talent for making enemies.
Before long, the family is ripe for murder, and when Olga is indeed found dead at the foot of the historical San Niccolò Tower, the Mantonis all cheer . . . until commissario Stefano Garini is forced to arrest a Mantoni family member. This, of course, makes him unpopular with his girlfriend, Carlina. She sets out to prove that her family is innocent, running straight into a trap. Will Garini arrive in time to save Carlina?

Expected Death is the fourth in the cozy mystery series Temptation in Florence.

Book 1: Delayed Death
Book 2: Charmer's Death

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the romance as much as the mystery! The cozy mystery series featuring Carlina, her shop in Florence Italy, and policeman Stefano Garini, and the vast Mantoni clan continues with laughs, romance and mysteries. I won't say much because I don't want to give anything away. But check out the series' video trailer on the Author's Page here at Amazon. It is very cute, and tells you all you need to know about this fun cozy series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Family Rallies When the Going Gets Dangerous 've loved the Mantoni family since I read the first book in the series, Delayed Death, so I was thrilled when I learned that another Temptation in Florence mystery was available. Expected Death did not disappoint. It's as full of fun as the preceding adventures, plus it's a good mystery, a classic cozy whodunnit. I was happy to know that things are moving along nicely in the romance department for Carlina and Stefano and glad to learn that another love story was developing in the family - a real May-December romance. Uncle Teo has fallen in love with a younger woman, but there's a problem: she's a sworn enemy of another Mantoni family member. Everyone except Uncle Teo knows this has to end badly. Boeker does a great job creating a real spider of a character in the tiny woman who's captured an old man's heart. As much as we want him to find happiness, we shudder whenever she appears - and nobody cries when she ends up dead. That's as much plot as I'm going to give away, but I will say that the book presents an interesting puzzle for mystery lovers to solve. In addition, it entertains with Boeker's usual astute and mischievous observations of human nature.
