Young children often need help learning and practicing their - feelings words - so they can express themselves well. When children learn from an early age to share their feelings in clear and healthy ways, they are more likely to grow into adults who feel capable of handling life's challenges. Friendly and positive, this picture book uses an alphabet-book format to share and reinforce emotional language and the ideas that while some feelings are more comfortable than others, all emotions are natural and important. Charming, colorful illustrations accompany the sweet and simple text. A section in the back provides tips and activities for parents and caregivers to reinforce the themes and lessons of the book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Conversation Starter! Great find! My daughter struggles with expressing her feelings and recognizing feelings in others. She thoroughly enjoyed this book and we have used it several times to help start a discussion about how she may be feeling at a particular time. Tonight she opened the book and walked through each feeling she has today and why. I especially like the helpful pages 32-35 with ideas and tips for parents. I highly recommend this book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally ... ... a book that shows children that they are allowed to have feelings and most importantly that it is ok to express those feelings to nurture compassion and empathy for one another. At the end of the beautifully illustrated book, the authors ask the child "How are YOU feeling right now?" and provide a great resource for everybody who is around children how to encourage the dialogue among children, their friends and caregivers. I hope this book finds its way into many homes and schools. Imagine a world where people share their feelings and listen to each other!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from F is For Fantastic! ?F is for Feelings? takes the child and parent on a delightful journey through the alphabet and the world of feelings. Children will love the colourful illustrations and will identify with the various feelings and emotions presented. It is a book that could be read over and over with a completely different experience each time, depending on the mood of the child and the specific pages and feelings that resonate with them. But the real value of ?F is For Feelings? is in the opportunity it provides for parents, caregivers and teachers to interact with children and help them become more aware of their feelings and emotions. And, most importantly, to let them know that whatever they are feeling is ok. There is a wealth of information presented after the feelings alphabet, with easy, practical suggestions for engaging children in discussions about how they feel. Many parents and caregivers will come away from reading this section with a much better understanding of why it is important for children to experience their emotions, and will learn how to help their children build empathy. ?F is For Feelings? makes it easy to engage with children in a topic that many people are not totally comfortable with but is an incredibly important part of a healthy childhood.
