about

From the bestselling author of the Shopaholic series and the novel Finding Audrey comes the first of a duology for young readers about a girl learning to become a fairy from her imperfect fairy mom, with a tech twist.

Ella Brook can't wait to grow up, because one day she will become a fairy and have her own sparkly wings and a teacher on Fairy Tube, just like her mom! Until then, Ella has to learn by watching her mom in action. But sometimes spells go wrong, and Ella's mom can never seem to remember the right magic codes. A lot of the time, it's up to Ella to come to the rescue. Does she have what it takes to be a fairy one day? Or will there be more glitches than glitter?
Sophie Kinsella is the author of the bestselling Shopaholic series, as well as the novels Can You Keep a Secret?, The Undomestic Goddess, Remember Me?, Twenties Girl, I’ve Got Your Number, and Wedding Night. She lives between London and the country.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun story for mothers and daughters Fun early chapter book. Her mother is a fairy and Ella can't wait to be just like her. One of her favourite activites is to watch while her mothers works on her online fairy classes. Ella loves those classes and finds them useful when her mother has trouble working any of her spells (which happens far too often). This would be a great selection for mothers and daughters to read together. Ella and her mother are very supportive of each other. They encourage the other to do her best and never make fun nor tease when something does't go well or as planned. The story of Ella and her mom has the stamp of approval of author Sophie Kinsella's own children. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from Penguin Random House Canada in exchange for an honest review. #IndigoEmployee

Editorial Reviews

"Inventive and charming while staying grounded in realistic, everyday situations, to which readers should have an easy time relating. Definitely deserving of a place on the nightstand."--Booklist "Messages about the virtues of patience and not taking shortcuts are handled with a light touch--most readers will be content to laugh over the fairy magic hijinks."-- Publisher's Weekly"Goofy humor and surprising emotional depth make this early chapter book appealing... Plenty of dialogue, direct storytelling, and easy sentence structure lend the book to transitional reading, but the episodic chapters can also serve as readalouds."--Bulletin
