This is not a book of fables for children.  This is a book of quick scenes, venues, and quips by Ambrose Bierce.  Hundreds of little stories adorn these pages with Bierce's biting witticisms and remarks.  This is not to be missed.  Bierce loved words.  He worked for a major newspaper and wrote strange horror and science fiction stories, along with a dictionary and thesaurus.  He died in about 1913 or 1914 on a search in the Mexican desert trying to interview Pancho Villa.  No one really knows what happened to him.  The last he was seen was riding off into the desert in 1913.  His life story is as interesting and convoluted as his writing. Read this book!
