Faust is a tragic play in two parts written by German poet, novelist, and playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1808. It is the play with the largest audience numbers on German-language stages. Faust is the most famous work of Goethe and regarded as one of the greatest works of German literature. The first part focuses on the soul, which has been sold to the devil. The second part focuses more on social phenomena, such as psychology, history, politics and philosophical topics. The second part reflected last years’ occupation of Goethe; it was published after he died. Faust part one takes place in several settings, the first one is Heaven.
