about

A riveting story of suspense from John Grisham’s #1 New York Times bestseller, Ford County—now available as a standalone eBook short

Wheelchair-bound Inez Graney and her two older sons, Leon and Butch, take a bizarre road trip through the Mississippi Delta to visit the youngest Graney brother, Raymond, who’s been locked away on death row for eleven years . . . and it could well be their last visit. Going back to Ford County, Mississippi, the setting of his first novel, A Time to Kill, Grisham brings the Graneys and their world to vivid and colorful life, making it abundantly clear why he is our most popular storyteller.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fetching Raymond A waste of my time. Very disappointed. Grisham should have left this on the "in production" pile until he could create something with a little more substance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fetching Raymond Expectation and anticipation are high when I start to read a John Grisham novel and this book did not fail in either regard. A man borrows a van to carry his mother, brother and himself on a journey to attend to his brother on death row. Grisham does an excellent job of not endearing us to this death row character in any way; however, sympathy can be found for his long suffering mother, though she bears some responsibility for his behavior. As usual Grisham weaves a wonderful tale using poverty and misfortune as the background.
