Why do some businesses fail while others thrive no matter what? It's all in the customer. This fast moving, real-world analysis of a ten-year world-wide research study reveals how one kind of customer is responsible for over 75% of discretionary spending today. Meet the customer who bought a Subaru at full price at the height of the recession while deeply discounted Chryslers gathered dust on bankrupted car lots. Get inside the mind of the burrito chain patron who enthusiastically supported a price increase while others left McDonald's for cheaper chicken nuggets. This book is where you will discover the Finders. The companies that do business with Finders are recession-proof, millennial-magnetic, growing fast and incredibly profitable. Then meet the more commonly pursued Keeper, the cost conscious consumer who only buys under ideal conditions. The lessons of Finders and Keepers will bring transformative change and unprecedented success to almost any organization.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why do I pay more for a coffee? A highly informative and even entertaining read packed full of extremely useful information, based on 10 years of research as to the reasons why a business either thrives or dies. I’ve spent nearly 2 decades of my life in advertising and have always heard that ‘you can’t be everything to everybody’. This is important to understand for any endeavour. Why do I line up at ‘one off' coffee shop, wait in line and spend nearly 3X the price for my daily afternoon java when I could simply grab one at the local 711 across the street? Finders & Keepers explains why. Starting a business? First figure out if you are a Finder or a Keeper. Trust me, you’ll want to know before you do anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genuine insight that clearly explained so many important incidents in my business life - invaluable. Until I read Finders and Keepers by Rob Schlyecher, I thought business books were all plausible but academic theories that simply never worked in real life when you tried to apply them. Not any more. This provides incredible insight into all the really significant successes - and failures - in my career. Now I know why that apparently sure-fire business failed to get significant traction - and why my successes worked. This blew me away. Packed full of real world examples expressed with clarity and without the usual padding, fluff and bullshit, this book gave me genuine understanding on why certain parts of my business portfolio were working - and what to do to make them more successful. It also gave me clarity on what to do with problems that I had wrestled with for years. Before, I kind of read business books for fun, not really expecting them to be at all actionable. Now, every member of my management team has a copy of Finders and Keepers - in my opinion, it is the only business book that must be required reading for anyone who wants to be successful.
