about

Revenge is sweet, especially if ones own salvation is tied up in the plan.

Cruel Life

The girl in this story has not had much luck in her life. The action she took to protect herself from the predatory advance of a neighbour's dog when she was young ensured she would never have a family and so led to a life of drifting, never really connecting with people or the world. A sexual assault amongst some garden gnomes is the last straw and something breaks.

Sweet Revenge

As her life drifts on, going nowhere, she learns of a millionaire recluse who has worked out how to store the human mind after the death of the body and he has used this technology to start the construction of a man made heaven called The Hereafter. He has become to death what Walt Disney became to Florida and in this incorporeal theme park she sees her salvation, a second chance. Her heart nearly breaks again when she reads that suicides will not be admitted to this new Hereafter, but necessity is the mother of invention and a plan starts to form, a plan for vengeance in death.

Life After Life

During her journey across the country, a journey back the village where the last piece of her died, the same village where life after death is being guaranteed, she fantasises about what this life after life may be like and as her anticipation builds with the hope that the luck she lacked in life will find her in death, she plans for a new beginning. Though things are not as cut and dry as she seems to think due to a new authority in the world who police the border between life and death and are rapidly becoming known as the St Peter Squad.

Dark

Short stories about suicide are dark and this is no exception. The main character, whose name we never learn, has given up on life and the short stories within the main story show a dark past with a twisted sense of humour and free of mercy.
