about

Mercy Thompson has been hailed as “a heroine who...always remains true to herself” (Library Journal). Now she’s back, and she’ll soon discover that when the fae stalk the human world, it’s the children who suffer...

Tensions between the fae and humans are coming to a head. And when coyote shapeshifter Mercy and her Alpha werewolf mate, Adam, are called upon to stop a rampaging troll, they find themselves with something that could be used to make the fae back down and forestall out-and-out war: a human child stolen long ago by the fae.

Defying the most powerful werewolf in the country, the humans, and the fae, Mercy, Adam, and their pack choose to protect the boy no matter what the cost. But who will protect them from a boy who is fire touched?
Patricia Briggs is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series and the Alpha and Omega novels.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun read Lots to do with the Fae this book, which is quite interesting. New character introduced that we'll likely be seeing more of in the future. What happens when human children are stuck in Underhill for a long time? Read and see

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "Fire Touched" by Patricia Briggs. Book 9 in the Mercy Thompson series. I just finished reading this book July 07, 2017. This is my review. A solid 3.5 stars for me with this new addition to the Mercy Thompson series. Mercy and Adam are in trouble again but this time, it really is...kind of...Mercy's fault. When a troll attacks a bridge in the Tri Cities, Mercy finds herself in the middle and unknowingly claims the Tri Cities as the territory of the Columbia Basin Pack. She may be the mate of the Alpha but Mercy's not sure she did the right thing because now Adam either has to back her up or loose face and look weak. This puts them at the brink of war with the Fae. In order to stop a war before it starts, Adam and Mercy have something the Fae want...but it just happens to be a human child with Fae-like powers. And there's not way Adam and Mercy are giving him up. So that's the basic story line of this book. I liked it. Although I didn't find it as exciting as some of the other books in the series, it was still good. It started off really well. Very exciting and action packed. But as the story continued, I felt it kind of simmered the rest of the way. I kept waiting for something big and exciting to happen to Mercy, or Adam or someone. Don't get me wrong! I still liked the book and the story as a whole. I just found the ending was a little anticlimactic. The story, overall, was very well written and flowed really easily. The descriptions were really good and I liked all the characters. I love the playfulness between Adam and Mercy. These books are not a hot-and-heavy romance but you still feel the love between the two characters. But their romance is not the main focus of these books. Each book stands alone but for back-story purposes, I recommend reading them in order. Overall, I liked it. I will be reading the next book in the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yeah! Mercy is back! Similar to the other books in the series but dealing more heavily in the Fairyworld storylines than previous titles. Hints that maybe Mercy and Adam will have a baby of their own one day which would be amazing and add all kinds of chaos to their already chaotic lives.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Same old Mercy It feels like I haven't read a Mercy Thompson book in forever, and I've missed her! I bought the novella collection late last year, but didn't realize that I needed to read it before I read Fire Touched. As a consequence, it felt like I was missing some information (about Joel mostly) but not so much that I couldn't follow along easily. The gang hasn't changed much, and I enjoyed joining them on their latest adventure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still love the series I pre-ordered the book for when it first came out. I was excited to read the book, and I enjoyed it but it didn't have the same spark as the previous novels in the series.
