about

The #1 New York Times bestseller and sequel to Steelheart—a novel that James Dashner called “fantastic.” Brandon Sanderson, the author of Words of Radiance, coauthor of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series, and creator of the internationally bestselling Mistborn trilogy, presents the second book in the Reckoners series: Firefight. And don’t miss Calamity, the exciting conclusion to the Reckoners series available now!
David Charleston has lived for one purpose: to kill Steelheart, the supremely powerful, seemingly invincible Epic who murdered his father. Now Steelheart is dead and David is beginning to question everything that he—and the world—understands about the superhumans they call Epics.
David’s suspicions are the reason he follows Prof to the flooded city once known as New York. But what he finds there could be what ultimately ends him. The truth might just burn deepest of all. . . .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Enjoyable It was a good story, but I found that it was slow moving.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Book It wasn't my favorite out of the three books, but it was still a good book. I would highly recommend reading all of the books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Brandon Sanderson has one of the best world-building I've ever seen, and his stories are pretty solid. Firefight is a very good sequel to Steelheart and I liked it better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing follow-up Having defeated Steelheart and avenged his father, David is currently living with the Reckoners and defending Newcago from a stream of Epics that are targeting the city. He's restless, though, and wants answers, and so is only too happy to go along when Prof wants to move the team to Babilar to answer the challenge sent by Regalia and her attacking minions. It helps that he thinks he has a good chance of reuniting with Megan, who is rumored to be working with Regalia, though David is sure he knows better. I loved Steelheart because of David, mainly. I loved the world and everything in it but I especially loved David. His determination, his wit, his heart and courage endeared me to him from the start, and his ability to jump into danger and then wiggle his way out of it made me love him even more. In this book, he just got better. He was smart and dedicated, but still adorably dumb (the metaphors!). I loved watching him make mistakes and learn and grow past his prejudices and fears. I loved his inner monologue and his kindness but his unflinching ability to get the job done. Basically, he was just my favorite. I also really loved delving more into the world and getting more answers. Sanderson is a master at his craft. Worldbuilding is important, yeah, but Sanderson takes it a level beyond and immerses you fully into it while still retaining an air of mystery. The city of Babilar was amazing and allowed for some really, real cool scenes and images without ever seeming ridiculous. Basically, it was just perfect, and I seriously can't wait for the next one, because I don't think I'll ever get enough of this world and these characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunned Speechless Wow... Just... WOW. I've always loved this series and for good reason, but this book just blew my mind. Heart racing, well written, intense, creative, and epic (pun intended)! Cannot recommend this series more to anyone and everyone, especially withe all the love superheroes are getting right now. FANTASTIC book with a shocking ending! The wait is going to kill me, but it will be worth it! Wow... WOW.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good This book was great, it was really hard to put down, I ended up finishing it in two days. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because it wasn't as good as the first book.
