It's not a diet book, it's a lifestyle change book. It's based off of the story of Daniel (Old Testament, pretty awesome dude, fought the lions in the den, you know?) and the part where he challenges the king's food and eats the healthy foods he is use to. The Daniel Plan is based on the Five "F"s : Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus & Friends. To regognize that your body is given to you by God, as a gift. A gift that Jesus paid the ultimate price for. The Bible says in multiple different places that we should take care of our bodies. They are a temple, The Spirit resides in it. And then the Food that fuels it should also be food that heals it, not put it in worse shape that it's in already. So then, once you are properly fueled, you should harness that energy and put it to good use by exercising and focusing on the right choices for your body. You should also concern your self with your brain's well being. Stress and all of life's challenges can be harmful to your mental health. A sound mind in a sound body, is that how it goes ? Focusing on your brain is important too! And most of all, having a great support system is ideal with all healthy lifestyles. Friends to encourage you and keep you accountable to your goal are a big part in being successful in most things in life ! I really liked how this book was written, it's not in a condoning way or a mean "we-are-supper-healthy-and-you-are-not kind of way, |It;s relate-able and easy to read through. It also has great meal plans and list and receipes and all sorts of fun stuff. As well as lots of scripture and Biblical references. I enjoyed this book and plan to gift it to my mother-in-law for Christmas. I would recommend it to all who feel like making better lifestyle changes but are not too sure where to start. Start here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY. A book that pairs physical health with Spiritual health. Anyone else think it was high time a book like this was published? The Daniel Plan definitely surpassed my expectations--it deserves all the accolades. This book is packed with an easy-to-follow, comprehensive guide to living a healthier life. The book's core "essentials" are Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends and the first chapters each focus on how integrating these values can improve your health. After these chapters, there is a more specialized plan and 40-day fitness challenge, which includes exercises, a "plan of the day," and detailed meal plans. This set-up of the book was perfect, because after making a plan and committing to it, you have all the resources you need right at your fingertips. Originally, I thought this book was going to be kind of gimmicky--use one part of the Bible that says something about eating and blow it way out of proportion. It isn't. Instead, it pairs Scriptural teaching (a lot of it) with sound physical health principles--The Daniel Plan actually hardly mentions Daniel at all, which I'm okay with. I'm definitely inspired. I think the authors have done a great job in making good information available to the readers. And that this can be done as a group study is fantastic!

This book incorporates what foods to eat for health and weightloss, moderate liveable exercise, community, focusing on lifestyle changes and a spiritual solution to a healthier slimmer life. It is a liveable program to follow the rest of your life. I really enjoy it.

I feel the doctors he collaborated with are already well known authors of similar books that I what I read is no different that what I've read from them before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Book My book review for November is for the book: “The Daniel Plan - 40 Days to a Healthier Life”, written by Rick Warren D.Min, Daniel Amen M.D, and Mark Hyman M.D, published by Zondervan. This book was another book I was able to read before the official release date! This is the second “Daniel Diet” type book I have read recently. I read The Daniel Cure last month. I’m not a very religious person anymore and that’s why I probably didn’t really feel a “connection” with this book. The Daniel Plan was written by a pastor who saw the need for a weight loss change in his congregation. Through their own “community” they achieved their goal and also give that glory to God. Here’s where my problem is. I believe, God or no God, if you put your mind to something, you are able to do it. You need to be committed to change (if you only truly want change) and it is easier with help and support from others. That being said, these type of “Daniel Diets” can be fitted to your own “community”, whether that’s a group of your girlfriends hitting a yoga or fitness class, making healthy choices at dinner with your family, etc.  Overall, I did enjoy reading this book. It has some good health related tips and is easy to understand. I give it a 4 out of 5.
