Would you send a villain to do a hero's job?
An exciting new twisted fairy tale from the award-winning author of the Secrets of My Hollywood Life series. Charming fairy-tale fun." -Sarah Mlynowski, author of the New York Times bestselling Whatever After series.
Gilly wouldn't call herself wicked, exactly. . . but when you have five little brothers and sisters and live in a run-down boot, you have to get creative to make ends meet. Gilly's a pretty good thief (if she does say so herself).
Until she gets caught.
Gilly's sentenced to three months at Fairy Tale Reform School where all of the teachers are former (super-scary) villains like the Big Bad Wolf, the Evil Queen, and Cinderella's Wicked Stepmother. Harsh. But when she meets fellow students Jax and Kayla, she learns there's more to this school than its heroic mission. There's a battle brewing and Gilly has to wonder just how good these bad guys really are?
Fans of Ella Enchanted, Shrek and Disney's Descendants will love exploring the magical, mixed-up world of Fairy Tale Reform School, where the villains are the teachers. Don't miss book 2 in this hilarious, exciting series: Charmed!
"Fairy tale fans will love this clever and lively tale of magic, friendship, and courage. " -Discovery Girls
"Spellbinding and wickedly clever. Gilly is smart, spunky, and a hilarious narrator, and I cannot wait to read about her next adventure!" -Leslie Margolis, author of the Maggie Brooklyn mysteries

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! I love fairy tale retellings! There are so many great middle grade series about fairy tales these days. After reading Misfits, which is set in the same world as this series, I wanted to check out Jen Calonita’s other fairy tale books. In this book, Gillian, a cobbler’s daughter, is sent to the Fairy Tale Reform School after being caught stealing. The school is meant to reform kids in the fairy tale school. It is run by Flora, who was Cinderella’s stepmother. The teachers are reformed villains, such as the Big Bad Wolf, the Sea Witch, and the Evil Queen. This story was very fast paced. There was lots happening in the story. Since there were so many villains, it was hard to know who to trust. It made the story more exciting, because it was unpredictable. I really enjoyed this story! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delightfully Amusing! "Flunked" a delightfully amusing spin on classic Fairy Tales is set in Enchantasia in a reform school to rehabilitate the wicked and mischievous encouraging them to become productive members of society. As the story opens Gillian (Gilly) the daughter of an impoverished cobbler has been sent to the Fairy Tale Reform School (FTRS) for three months for theft, stealing from the nobility to provide for her family. Cheeky and spirited it doesn't take her long to make friends with Jax and the fairy Kayla, or to uncover a conspiracy to burn down the FTRS and take over the throne of Enchantasia. Jen Calonita cleverly builds a magical kingdom ruled by Royal Princesses Ella, Rapunzel, Snow and Rose, changing the notorious villains that plagued their lives into professors at a reform school. Skilfully she heats up the story by weaving a mystery beginning with a missing family; the Sea Witch, Madame Cleo's cryptic message about evil coming and the FTRS burning; and a gargoyle attack. She uses devices like the "Happily Ever After Scrolls" not only to give updates on coming events and newsflashes but to introduce the reader to the reformed villains on staff. The story is light-hearted and totally mesmerizing as Gilly not only uncovers a diabolical plot that makes her wonder if villains can be reformed, but discovers a spy among her friends who's been sent to uncover any evidence of strange happenings at the school. Twelve year old Gilly is the shoemaker's daughter who hates the nobility for stealing her father's glass slipper enterprise. A clever thief with nimble fingers and a knack for getting out of any jam, she helps provide for the family she loves. Only when Gilly makes friends at FTRS does she learn to selflessly put others first and not to prejudge anyone. Her friends include the enigmatic, resourceful and mischievous Jax; the irritable and mysterious Kayla; the victimized, insecure troll Maxine; and the jokester Ollie. Among the professors at the reform school are a repentant evil stepmother Headmistress Flora; the well-respected and supportive wolf man, Professor Xavier Wolfington; and Professor Harlow an evil queen who's overly strict and extremely intimidating. All these colourful personalities enrich the story with passion, high-energy and drama. I loved "Flunked" which will captivate pre-teen and teens alike. I give it high praise and look forward to reading the next book in the series-"Charmed
