Something—some power—is blooming inside Laurel. She can use flowers to do things. Like bringing back lost memories. Or helping her friends ace tests. Or making people fall in love.

Laurel suspects her newfound ability has something to do with an ancient family secret, one that her mother meant to share with Laurel when the time was right. But then time ran out.

Clues and signs and secret messages seem to be all around Laurel at Avondale School, where her mother had also boarded as a student. Can Laurel piece everything together quickly enough to control her power, which is growing more potent every day? Or will she set the stage for the most lovestruck, infamous prom in the history of the school?

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dreaming of Books Review Laurel has just transferred to Avondale, the school her mother also attended while she was a student. Laurel feels that attending Avondale will help her learn more about her mother and somehow feel closer to her. After an English report about the language of flowers she discovers that she can do magical things with flowers. I found Laurel to be a little too nice. When word gets around about her ability with flowers, she’s willing to help others even those that treated her badly. There wasn’t a lot of the build-up of the romance between Laurel and Justin. She’s interested in meeting up and hanging out with him but there was always something more urgent happening that would need her attention more. The idea that each flower has a different meaning and that someone has the ability to help others using flowers whether it is for love or revenge really intrigued me. White created a beautiful and unique world with the concept of flowerspeak. I liked reading about the history of flowerspeak and learning about the Victorian language of flowers. I never knew that flowers had so many different meanings which made the glossary at the back of the book was very helpful reference. I also liked how the author was able to fully describe the flowers and their different scents whether they were sweet or spicy smelling. Forget-Her-Nots is a beautiful story about flowers, friendship, and love that made me want to go out and smell the flowers.
