Richard meets the love of his life, before leaving New Zealand to fight the Boers, but once in South Africa he becomes part of a team to hunt down a notorious anarchist and is drawn down a trail of misadventure and murder that is left unresolved; until he must protect a beautiful woman and meets his nemesis face to face.

Forgiven is set in the English colonies of New Zealand and South Africa in the latter half of the 19th century; during the age of Victoria, a time when Britannia was the undisputed ruler of the waves; the greatest empire the world has ever seen. Life in the English colonies however, was considerably removed from that of the great metropolis world of the mother country. Colonials lived in a world of the small provincial town and rural life. Self reliant, they could ride well, shoot and were accustomed to survival without the need for support. They were prodigiously free-thinking problem solvers and direct action takers. This was the world in which Richard grew up.
