When Rachel and her husband, Abraham, escape from the Siemiatycze ghetto one cold winter night in 1942 with their four-year-old daughter, Chana, they are desperate for refuge. Rachel Lisogurski was born in the village of Grodzisk in 1911 and lived in the nearby town of Siemiatycze, Poland, during the war.
