Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good read I actually really enjoyed this one! I personally think it was better than the first one. Lots of action and mystery. Some strange time transitions here and there, but it wasn't something that bothered me too much.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wow... Great story line loved every minute, wow is all I can say for those last chapters...well worth the wait to read this entire novel. I will say that I found it unbearably long but still a great read. Well done Dan Wells!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Dysopian Thriller I throughly enjoyed the second book in Dan Well's trilogy set against a background of desperation and fear caused by a Partial War that's devastated humankind and a virus that is whittling away at the remnant that's left. Into this mix add a new species of super soldier, the Partials, whose numbers are being reduced because of a genetic abnormality that destroys any over the age of 20. In this book Kira finds Afa, a computer technologist formerly with ParaGen the company that created the biogenetic race of soldiers. Together with Partial soldiers, Samm and Heron, they set out to discover a cure which they hope will save both races. It's an action-packed, thrill ride that leads Kira, Samm and their company across the wasteland of the Midwest and into the horror and evil of an invented paradise where the answers they want will lead to even more questions. I like Kira, a heroine with high ideals who not only wants to save her world but is seeking answers to her very existence, and her friend Samm, who seems more human than Partial and who desperately wants to control his own destiny. It's a story of struggle, of small victories and with every new challenge the characters face, a new dimension is added to their personalities. I have become a fan of Dan Well's writing style and can't wait to read his next book. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves an action-packed thriller with a twist at the end.
