Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent In these 10 stories Alice Munro gives the reader a slice of life in a small towns. The stories are subtle and realistic. They are separate stories but drawn together by a common theme: Someone is reunited many years later with a person who was their friend when they were younger. The stories span multiple time-periods. Many take place in a town called Wally. Alice Munro uses a technique called layering in her stories. she goes from one period of time to another, e.g. present to past and back and forth, to slowly reveal her characters and the plot elements. I could hardly put the book done when reading it and wanted to continue to see what comes next.
