about

Aside from her dad, who passed away when she was six, Cassidy Jameson has only ever trusted one man: her best friend, Tyler. So of course she follows him to Texas when he leaves for college. She just didn't expect to be so drawn to their new roommate, Gage, a gorgeous guy with a husky Southern drawl. The only problem? He's Tyler's cousin.

Gage Carson was excited to share an apartment off campus with his cousin. He didn't mind that Tyler was bringing the mysterious friend he'd heard about since they were kids . . . until the most beautiful girl he's ever seen jumps out of his cousin's Jeep. There's something about Cassi that makes Gage want to give her everything. Too bad Tyler has warned him that she's strictly off-limits.

Despite everything keeping them apart, Cassi and Gage dance dangerously close to the touch they've both been craving. But when disaster sends her running into Tyler's arms, Cassi will have to decide whether to face the demons of herpast . . . or to burn her chance at a future with Gage.

Molly McAdams grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. Her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible I don't know what I was expecting from this book. All of the characters except Gage sucked. It was poorly written and very frustrating to read through.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Book Ever Do not waste your money. Absolutely the worst book. Reads like it was written by an immature, not very bright 14 year old fantasizing about life. Gives very poor advice. Ie. girl is burning up with fever, mother says get Nyquil. Really? She arrives half frozen and blue, put her in the hottest water possible and vigorously rub her arms and legs...obviously never lived in a cold climate wrong way to treat this. Insensitive or ignorant of true abusive situations and victims and also to teenage girls. Good that Molly McAdams does not have a real daughter only a fur daughter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book As frustrating as a love triangle is, this book was really well written. I had a hard time putting it down. I really like this author.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge Waste of Time I really hated this book. It was written so poorly that I was constantly questioning who in their right mind would publish it. Though there are many offenses against this novel, there were two main reasons why From Ashes is absolutely unreadable. The manner in which Molly McAdams writes about her main character's abusive past (not a spoiler, it's mentioned on the first page) is terrible. She has no subtlety, or respect for such a sensitive subject in her details of the abusive instances. Her descriptions are over the top, and ridiculous. The author's approach makes what she's trying to convey as something horrendous sound absolutely absurd. However, the most unrealistic part of this book is how every single male character is in love with the protagonist. The main love interest is chasing off a constant stream of competition for the protagonist's affection throughout the whole book. There are even two separate love triangles involving the same girl, for crying out loud! If you are willing to look past these reasons (and many other unmentioned ones) why From Ashes is a horrible book, there is still the fact that Molly McAdams is very bad writer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love From Ashes is a new contemporary romance that is a great for the New Adult section. I thought this book was great, I really liked the concept of the story and how our main character Cassidy faces her fears and beats her struggles. Of course there had to be a bit of a love triangle but I feel like it worked for this book even though Tyler ( Cassidy's best friend ) was kind of a jerk about some things. Gage was a great character, he was always so sweet with Cassidy, my only complaint about their relationship was the "Insta Love" I was not really feeling that aspect but it didn't take anything away from the book or story. The only other thing I did not like about this book is that at times it is a bit rushed, but other than that this book was fantastic and I want to get my hands on her book Taking Chances. If you like Contemporary romances I would highly recommend this read, the writing was on point and I thought the characters were spot on.

Editorial Reviews

“From Ashes kicks off with a bang and holds nothing back. You’ll be enthralled, romanced by the wonderfully spun tale of love and acceptance, and hoping for a Gage of your own.”
