Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Night at the Museum How is it that I haven't read this book before now and it was first published in 1967? My daughter put this book in my hands and said 'Read this book next !!!' I'm glad that I did. Even given it's age, this book successfully challenges the movie 'Night at the Museum'. Young Claudia has decided to run away from home. She is going to do it in style, not staying on the streets or in a park, rather she is going to stay at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. She convinces her brother Jamie to join her and the two set out on the adventure of a lifetime. I loved this book. This book is fun and it speaks right to the child hidden in most of us. Who doesn't wish that they could spend time in a special building once it has been closed to the public? maybe a night in a professional bakery or a quilt store?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from one of those Best-Ever Kids' Books... Among the thousands of books I devoured up till the age of eleven, this one stands out as one of the greats. Why go to Hogwarts when you can run away to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (and strong-arm your little brother into going with you)? I will continue to buy copies of this for all the children in my life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from da-vinci adventure for kids... Everyone as a child wants to run away at some point - escape their mundane lives for great adventure. These two children do exactly that. Their ingenuity lands them living in a museum for awhile and investigating the origins of a mysterious statue. I really loved this book as a child, and loved the intelligence of the main character. A great author a great book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best kids' novels ever! This was one of my favourite books growing up, and I recently reread it to see if it held up. It definitely does. There's a certain type of kid for whom running away to a museum would be cooler than joining the circus. This book is for those kids.
