about

Being vegan doesn’t have to mean living off kale and quinoa, or spending your money on fancy and expensive ingredients. And it definitely doesn’t have to mean feeling limited for choices of what to eat! What if “vegan food” could mean cheesy nachos and pizza, hearty burritos, gooey spinach and artichoke dip, decadent chocolate cake or even crème brûlée? Well, it can. In Fuss-Free Vegan, Sam Turnbull shows you that “vegan” does not equal unappetizing dishes, complicated steps, ingredients you have never heard of, or even food that tastes healthy. Instead, she gives you drool-worthy yet utterly fuss-free recipes that will bring everyone together at the table, vegans and non-vegans alike, in a chorus of rave reviews.
This is the cookbook Sam wishes she had when she went vegan: one that recreates and veganizes the dishes she loved most in her pre-vegan days, like fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon, cheesy jalapeño poppers and pizza pockets, creamy Caesar salad and macaroni and cheese, rich chocolate brownies and holiday-worthy pumpkin pie, to name just a few. (And there’s no hummus recipe in sight.)
Say goodbye to searching endlessly around for that one special ingredient that you can't even pronounce, or cooking dishes that don’t deliver on their promise of yumminess; instead, say hello to ingredients you can pick up at your local grocery store, step-by-step techniques, and Sam’s enthusiastic voice cheering you on throughout this fun, approachable cookbook. With 101 tried-and-tested, one-of-a-kind vegan recipes for every meal, from breakfasts to lunches to dinners, and even snacks, desserts, appetizers and vegan staples, as well as handy menu plans and tips to amp up the recipes and your vegan life, Sam Turnbull and Fuss-Free Vegan are your ultimate guides in the new vegan kitchen.
SAM TURNBULL is the creative voice and vision behind the popular vegan blog It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken. Fuss-Free Vegan is her first cookbook. The author lives in Toronto, Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from #plumreview I can't get over how much I love this cook book! I have been researching vegan food and been making a lot of diet changes to incorporate plant based meals. This book made it incredibly easy to eat my favourites! Ive tried probably 10-15 recipes so far and have really really enjoyed all of them! So many great tips while still keeping things humorous. I can't wait to keep working my way through this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious and Fuss Free Recipes I have a lot of vegan cookbooks and over 2,500 vegan recipes in my YummySoup app, but Sam's book is the one I go to when I need a delicious and fuss-free recipe. The layout of the book is beautifully uncluttered; the pictures are lovely and the recipes are easy to follow, requiring no obscure ingredients or equipment. Most important, the recipes are foolproof and delicious, with the added benefit of being reasonably healthful––so I don't feel overly guilty going for that second helping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple Good and simple recipes. I borrowed it from the library, and am now contemplating buying my own copy of this one. I have bought so many vegan books that didn't measure up, but this one is different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING resource for quick meals! I bought this book about two months ago! This is the first cookbook I have used (and I have used a lot over the years!) where EVERY recipe is right on the money! Sam Turnbull’s recipes for Canadian comfort food are perfect for anyone wanting great tasting food fast! The fact they are vegan is almost a sidebar. We live in a small community where many vegan prepared/processed food is limited. Turnbull has made this a non-issue by giving us recipes for condiments, spreads, etc. I strongly recommend this book to everyone! Even those who go meatless for one day a week. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderfully simple, easy to follow recipes I have never jumped right into a cookbook like I have this one but I was very excited to crack this one open and get started. The creme brulee is spectacular. A show stopper and much easier than the non-vegan version to make too. I've already made two batches of the fudge this week and it has received rave reviews. Now the brownies. You really should make two batches. One to eat while they are warm and gooey like a lava cake with coconut vanilla ice cream and then let the second batch set up for the next day. They are just that amazing! I'm looking forward to digging into the rest of the book . Highly recommend this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY... A VEGAN COOKBOOK FOR THE REST OF US!! Every vegan should have this cookbook... IT’S THE BEST!! Delicious, easy-to-follow recipes that use ingredients found in your local grocery store and make ‘real food’. No green smoothies or hummus recipes here... thank you Sam Turnbull! The ‘cheese’ recipes are phenomenal and every recipe I have tried so far has worked out exactly as described in the book and tastes delicious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to follow vegan recipes You would think that you would need a bunch of obscure ingredients to make good vegan food, but most if not all of the ingredients in this book are available at your standard grocery store. The food is simple, but delicious, and easy to follow. I have made a great number of recipes from the blog, that have always been amazing, so I was super excited to get the cook book as well.

The photos alone make me want to jump right into the book!” Chloe Coscarelli, vegan chef and cookbook author   “This delightful cookbook knocks vegan cooking right off the proverbial pedestal and brings it down to earth for all. Through Sam’s simply spectacular recipes, you’ll not just enjoy a wildly flavorful meal, but you’ll learn lots along the way about this powerful lifestyle choice.” Chef Michael Smith, author of Make Ahead Meals“Curious about going vegan but don’t want to give up your favourite foods? Fuss-Free Vegan is the book you need! From cozy waffles to hot, cheesy pizza and decadent brownies, Sam recreates all our food favorites! With engaging spirit, Sam invites us into her cheery vegan kitchen.” Dreena Burton“Cooking in restaurants over the past four decades, I’ve noticed a rather steep pike of interest in vegan cooking. Nary a service goes by without someone inquiring as to what vegan dishes are on the menu. For me, it has been a decade-long scramble to respond. Thankfully, Sam Turnbull has given me some wonderful inspiration in Fuss-Free Vegan.”Jamie Kennedy“With witty notes, delicious and approachable recipes, and drool-worthy photography, Sam Turnbull proves that even after you go vegan, you can have your (*insert whatever food you think you’ll miss by going vegan*) and eat it too.”Kristy Turner
