The third Horus Heresy title returns in mass market paperback format

Having made a miraculous recovery from the grievous injuries he suffered on Davin, Warmaster Horus now leads the triumphant Imperial forces against the rebel world of Isstvan III. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really sets the 30K universe in motion This was the very first Horus Heresy novel I had ever read. I read it when it first came out and it blew my mind. If you haven't yet read the first 2 novels that precede it, I would honestly recommend it. You miss a lot of the built up tension between the Mournival, as well as its deeper meaning and connection to Horus Lupercal if you skip them. You also miss out on some of the loss Garviel and Tarik feel at Horus' descent. However, even if you haven't read the preceding novels, you still get to enjoy the amazing novel that truly sets off the events of the Horus Heresy. This novel covers the entire Istvaan III massacre in all its glory. You also get to meet some of the really big 40K powerhouses like Kharn before his fall to Khorne, or Lucius before the Slaanesh worship. Even Callas Typhon. Overall: A great novel if you really want to get into the Horus Heresy series and see where it all began.
