The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars in Gretchen McNeil’s witty and suspenseful novel about four disparate girls who join forces to take revenge on high school bullies and create dangerous enemies for themselves in the process.

Bree, Olivia, Kitty, and Margot have nothing in common—at least that’s what they’d like the students and administrators of their elite private school to think. The girls have different goals, different friends, and different lives, but they share one very big secret: They’re all members of Don’t Get Mad, a secret society that anonymously takes revenge on the school’s bullies, mean girls, and tyrannical teachers.

When their latest target ends up dead with a blood-soaked “DGM” card in his hands, the girls realize that they’re not as anonymous as they thought—and that someone now wants revenge on them. Soon the clues are piling up, the police are closing in . . . and everyone has something to lose.

Gretchen McNeil is an opera singer, a writer, and a clown. She is also the author ofGet Evenas well asTen, which was a 2013 YALSA Top Ten Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, aRomantic TimesTop Pick, and an ALABooklistTop Ten Horror Fiction for Youth and was nominated for Best Young Adult Contemporary Novel of 2012 byRomantic ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked the story At first I was skeptical about this book because of it's somewhat simplistic writing and the overly dramatic characters. However it grew on me as I got to know the characters and their realistic feelings about very real issues. I went to a catholic school growing up (although not a prestigious one) where I was bullied relentlessly. It was certainly true what they said about teachers turning a blind eye. Anyway I was intrigued by the mystery and the setup and I read the second book right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED IT This book. Just. Oh my god. To recap the ninja long synopsis, Olivia Hayes, Kitty Wei, Margot Mejia and Bree Deringer are completely different people. Olivia: The Socialite. Kitty: The Sporty Chick. Bree: The Punk Rock Loner. Margot: The Super Smart Nobody. Not similar in any way, right? Wrong. These girls are part of a secret group called Don't Get Mad, or DGM to everybody else. DGM right wrongs. They get revenge on the bullies who pick on defenseless kids. But when one of DGM's targets is murdered with a DGM card in his hand, Don't Get Mad is on high alert. Tension begins to tear the girls apart, but the real question hangs in the air. Who killed Ronny DeStefano? I was perpetually hooked on this book since page one. I loved every single minute spent reading. I was actually so engrossed in this book that I didn't realize I finished it until I saw the acknowledgements. I loved how the book flowed from character to character, with all four girls stating their opinions and even the stupid love interests. There were parts in the book where I was going "Awwww..." and other times I was like "(S)He likes you, don't be so ignorant, like, seriously, are you blind, character?" Which was aggravating in it's own amazing way. But you know what irked me? The ending. A terrible cliff hanger. And I mean terrible as in "Wait. It's over? No, no, nonononononooooooo." I was in shock. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, and I recommend this book for people who like Pretty Little Liars (?) and Burn for Burn. Hopefully you'll enjoy this book as much as I did.
