Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing cookbook for everyone! I've never really cooked or owned a cookbook, now I can't part with this one! Recently a vegetarian who switched over to vegan, this book is a little piece of heaven. Recipes are easy to follow, simple ingredients, and super yummy. People are even thinking that I'm a good cook now, when it's really Jae! I also love the first 100 pages, which is a great resource of idea, background, and explanation for all the basics. I've even bought this book for some herbivores. Everyone loves it! You won't be disappointed either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A meat eater's review! I am a meat eater - I don't eat tons but I do enjoy it! My sister gave me this cookbook as a gift and I have loved everything I've made - the pesto and soba noodles, sheppard's pie (even my boyfriend enjoys this one - also a meat eater) and especially the double trouble chocolate cookies - they were a huge hit over the holidays. I recommend this book for anyone - vegan and meat eaters alike! Jae makes the recipes easy to follow and a pleasure to use! Thank you Jae! And thank you too Shley!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly reccommended I’m the head chef of a large and successful catering company in Montreal and I create personalized menus every day. I meet more and more people wanting vegetarian and vegan meals, and it is a specialty I am just learning about. Jae Steele’s book “get it ripe” has been very useful. I love the way Jae breaks it down for us and makes it accessible even for non vegans. The nutritional information explaining vegan alternatives is very interesting, as well as the techniques for preparing the meals. The recipes look delicious and easy to make, which goes a long way in everyday living. “Get it ripe” has found a place in my personal library and I recommend it strongly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Vegan Cookbook I am a new vegan for medical reasons and I really did not think cooking would be enjoyable or fun. Jae's cookbook proved me wrong. Not only is it soooo easy to follow, the food is AWESOME! You don't need to go and buy she she ingredients either! My husband, the carnivore, loves everything I make from this book as well. Everyone must have this cookbook. All of your friends and family will want to come over for dinner all the time! It's that good!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so accessible I usually don't enjoy "healthy" cookbooks. I like my food to be easy and fun. Jae's book IS easy and fun. She writes from an educated healthy perspective while respecting that everyone has the right to make their own food choices. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eat this Book! I love Jae Steele's beautiful new cookbook. Her down-to-earth and downright delicious approach to vegan eating is very welcome in my household. The first recipe I tried was for her Apple Cinnamon Muffins. They were simple and quick to make, and turned out light and moist. (I followed her suggestion of adding poppy seeds, with delicious results.) Not only are the recipes in this book wonderful, it's also a great reference for anyone interesting in nutrition, ethical eating and overall health and harmony in the kitchen and beyond. My highest recommendation!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy, tasty, and Canadian! I've made a ton of recipes from this book and it's now one of my faves, along side Sarah Kramer. The recipes are easy and almost always great. (I removed one point because I don't believe in giving nutritional info without extensive footnoting.)

Editorial Reviews

This is much more than a collection of recipes that exclude meat as an ingredient.... The book is an excellent resource for both longtime vegans and those just starting out and will find a place of prominence in your kitchen.
