Catrina and her family are moving to the coast of Northern California because her little sister, Maya, is sick. As the girls explore their new home, a neighbor lets them in on a secret: There are ghosts in Bahía de la Luna. Maya is determined to meet one, but Cat wants nothing to do with them. As the time of year when ghosts reunite with their loved ones approaches, Cat must figure out how to put aside her fears for her sister's sake -and her own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing graphics It was an enchanting read with history and beliefs entwined with modern-day characters. As always, the characters all have a fault, and aren't perfect, which I love because that's human, and we can relate to some things.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting story I found this story uplifting. It brought a happy feeling with it and one of family love. Maya has Cystic Fibrosis and her condition is a part of this story, which explores family relationships. It also looks at family history, cultural history, traditions and the acceptance of death. I liked how during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) the dead and the living come together, showing that death isn't the end of our love or our memories of each other. People live on and are not forgotten. This is a young graphic novel (tween age), yet as an adult I found it uplifting, warm and a happy read. Maya's smile and enthusiasm for Life is contagious.

I appreciated the author's attempt to introduce children to different family challenges (i.e. sister relationships, moving to a new place, tackling physical disabilities and chronic illnesses) in a age appropriate, yet heart warming way. Enjoyed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another gem! My 10 year old daughter is a huge fan of Raina Telgemeier's work, and this book was no exception. The humour and everyday details weaved throughout the book make it a great starting point to talking to your kids about some of the bigger issues that can be scary (like dealing with a friend or relative with an illness). #plumreview
