Gilded Ashes is an atmospheric and darkly romantic reimagining of Cinderella set in the world of Cruel Beauty. Perfect for fans of An Ember in the Ashes and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Maia doesn't see the point of love when it only brings people pain: Her dead mother haunts anyone who hurts Maia, and her stepsisters are desperate for their mother's approval, even though she despises them. Meanwhile, Anax, heir to the Duke of Sardis, doesn't believe in love either—not since he discovered that his childhood sweetheart was only using him for his noble title. But when Maia's and Anax's paths cross before the royal ball, they discover that love might not be the curse they once thought. And it might even be the one thing that can save them both.

Fans who love Kristin Cashore and Rae Carson will find everything they're looking for in this extraordinary and romantic novella

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compellingly Perfect Cruel Beauty was such a dark and beautiful book, that I had to read this one. And for that I am glad, this short story was perfect. Despite its short length, it was so enjoyable. I love the brief visit of the Gentle Lord and I loved the main character. Cruel Beauty is my favourite novel in the world, and Rosamund sure knows how to create such amazing characters.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Brief and Dark Not an idealistic version of a Cinderella story, but definitely a unique spin off connected to the Cruel Beauty Universe. Great potential; showing a very dark yet loving tale of Cinderella (Maia)'s life story in a whole new view point. "I wanted to know,” I say, and my voice feels like it’s coming from miles away and the depths of my bones at once, “if you really loved me. The way you said when you asked me to marry you." “Then?” His mouth crooks. "No. Not really."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic I love this novella and it's definitely worth reading. It gives a twisted, dark version of Cinderella. And we all know that we love the Disney version so why not read this?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very enjoyable retelling! I enjoyed this refreshing retelling of Cinderella. Rosamund has a way with natural banter thats a pleasure to read and engages the reader with her characters. She also writes the most intricate plots, leaving the reader no choice but to read the book in one sitting!
